The kiss was far from unexpected. You didn't plan it, yet you just knew it – a girl couldn't lay on the bed beside a man like that and imagine a different result.
Not that you didn't appreciate it; you enjoyed the way his fingers slid through your lips, your chin, your cheeks while he brought his mouth upon yours, his tongue finding a way inside it, your lips spreading to receive it, your eyes closing slowly, your noisy breaths becoming one.
It was just like this with Toji: things would just happen, whether you follow them or not. However, that could be a bit suffocating for someone with a preference for a peaceful rhythm like you; being with him was like throwing yourself in the sea, suddenly and unprepared, when you in other circumstances would choose a slow dive. And in fact, even his affection carried a portion of roughness: he would go faster and deeper in the kiss; his arms surrounded you in a tight embrace, and his hands would go up and down on your sides with urgency, pulling you against him, his weight keeping you in place as he went over you.
You brought your hand to his shoulders, pushing him a bit in an attempt to breathe through the kiss, but this first appeal gone unnoticed. He moved away from your mouth and turned his attention to your chin, then to your neck; it was only when you felt his hands reaching your thighs, trying to wrap them around his waist, that you managed to speak.
- Toji-san... – you gasped.
- Hm? – he mumbled against the crook of your neck – You said something, darling?
- Wait – you tried to speak a bit louder – Please...
Toji interrupted his kisses and raised his eyes to yours.
- What's wrong?
You caught your breath, still with your hands on his shoulders.
- It's that I... – your fingers pressed his skin – I don't wanna go so fast...
- You call this fast? – he questioned – You've been taking care of my kid for two months and he keeps calling you his mom, and besides you were the only woman to stick around during this time – you didn't see it, but you knew the grin was there, dancing on his lips – You're basically part of our family, girl.
You let out a soft laugh.
- We barely talked during these two months and you know that. We didn't discuss anything unless it was concerning the baby – your left hand tapped his shoulder and whispered – That's not how family works.
He brought his right hand to your face, his fingers brushing your hair behind your ear.
- Hm... you're really the soft type, aren't you? – he pinched your cheek and giggled – I'm not the most patient guy around, but even I find that cute.
You rolled your eyes in the dark.
- I'm not being cute, I'm being serious. We went through a lot today, and I don't know about you but right now I'm a mess – you caressed his face – I just don't wanna wake up regretting anything tomorrow.
He went back to his previous place by your side, but didn't release you from his grip: instead he just intensified it, wrapping one arm around your waist while the other was folded under his head.
- Regret? I see... When a girl starts talking about regretting things, it's almost certain that there's a man involved – he sighed – Go on, tell me. Is he a previous boyfriend or something? He screwed up big time, didn't he?
You nodded.
- Yeah. He was my boyfriend. I've spent two long years with him planning stuff, working, believing we were having fun together, when in reality he was the only one doing it. And not with me.
