(Lox's P.O.V.)

I slowly woke up and smiled for a moment before it dropped off my face and I snapped into an upright position. I growled angrily as I looked around and confirmed my suspicions. My wife was gone, leaving me with a cold spot next to me.

"Just like you did all those years ago."  My conscience spat at me. I groaned and let my head fall into my hands, why did she run? I know she didn't love that loathsome creature because the way she kissed me was the same as our wedding day, perhaps even better since she was older and angry at the time. I nursed my jaw where she punched me, my wife sure had a hell of a punch I thought with a small grin. It slowly fell away as I was hit with a very large realization, I love her.

I mean I knew that I did and said so but it didn't fully hit me until this moment when I have to potentially give her up. I love Aradia with all my heart and soul but she kept pushing me away. Didn't that silly woman realize that no matter how many scars she received that I would always stand by her? She doesn't know that I know about the prophecy, I knew about it before we got married but I took the chance because I know that she is strong enough and loves me enough not to harm me.

At least I hope.

Sighing in frustration, I heave myself off the ground and start collecting all the blankets. This morning is quite chill but nothing compared to the feeling in my heart. The absence of Aradia is more than I bear as I know that she has returned to the palace, and him.  I groaned in anger and transporting myself to our room, punched a pillow angrily. It exploded in a shower of feathers and I grimaced in distaste before snapping my fingers. The pillow reformed itself and settled gently on the bed. If I kept dwelling on that thought then I would destroy my castle before nightfall and that was not something I relished. This was our home, the place that I knew she would love as I had picked the spot for the view.

It overlooked a valley with mountains towering on either side and a gentle lake glistening at the bottom. This place would have been perfect to raise a family in and though she didn't know it, I had already enchanted the place so that if our children ever fell out of a window, they would be transported to their crib and not be harmed. Frowning, I went to throw all the blankets on the bed when a crackling noise caught my attention. Swiftly grabbing the parchment, I perused the following words,

My love,

For that is what you are and always will be. Let me go. I will bring nothing but an ill fortune to your life and there are circumstances the like of which you do not know of. I beg you, leave me be. Cast away my memory as though I were a mere whisper on the wind and that my presence did not give you pain. Pretend I do not matter. It will be for the best. A battle is coming that I must fight alone and I will not have you caught in the crossfire. When I think of the life we might have shared, it gives me courage. I love you. I pray that you love another who is more worthy of you.

                                                                                                May we meet again,

                                                                                                                        Aradia

I fell to the ground as my heart felt like someone was squeezing it in their fist.

"Aradia no. Please."

I gasped out, knowing at this moment she could hear me. She was severing our bond, tearing our souls from one another as though this was right. This would kill neither of us but every breath would be shards of glass stabbing us inside and every inch of distance would be claws of fire licking at our backs. I could hear her rasping breath and the tears which flowed from her eyes. Her letter had not deterred me nor had her leaving me but her reply destroyed me,

"Goodbye, my love."
