Prologue
The King and Queen looked down at their new child with pride and joy. She was everything they could have ever wanted. Her skin was soft and creamy. It seemed to glow from within. Her hair was a honey color that put amber to shame. Her long eyelashes delicately lay on her cheeks as she breathed in and out. Her eyes gently fluttered open and her parents gasped. The eyes shining back at them were a rare turquoise color that shimmered in the sunlight.
Her parents looked at eachother in fear. "You don't think...?" the queen trailed off in a whisper. The king simply gazed at her in sorrow. The queen began to sob and and cried, "Why did it have to be her?!?!? Why couldn't it have been someone else?!?!" The king grabbed her and hugged her fiercely. As he opened his mouth to respond, the room darkened. They turned to the window slowly and walked forward, staring back at them was a solar eclipse. Suddenly, their daughter's wails filled the room and her skin burst into flame. The king and queen watched on in horror and shock as the fire died away and the symbol of death made its self known. This symbol meant that she would die one day and that they had to shut her away from the world.
"My dear, we must make her hate us. We will find her a blind maid and though it will pain you, we must be cruel and evil to her. We must deny her our company and we must avoid her. It is the only way that she may have a chance." Tears streamed down the queen's cheeks as she nodded in understanding to her love's words and gazing down at her beautiful child, she felt her heart break. The queen knew that she would never be able to go on if her baby died. She knew it would be her fault and although this was not at all the case, the queen felt it in her soul.
The king and queen both knew that if any royal child bore such an eye color and mark that they would suffer greatly. That when they met the love of their life, they would become monsters and they would have to face a challenge. A challenge that would decide if their love lived or died. So many hadn't been strong enough to withstand the evil and pain so they killed their beloved and their own souls were forever damned. The prophecy had begun. The time of fire had come.
