Jangmi watched as Sangyeon made his rounds this morning.
He went from desk to desk, wearing that same fake smile that she once believed was genuine. She held her breath as the moment for him to approach her was nearing, trying her best to wipe the glare from her face before he looked her way.
"Jangmi," he nodded eventually, the girl reciprocating. "Could you possibly stick on emails and calls today?"
The girl almost smiled at the thought of spending eight hours doing her favourite thing, but she wouldn't let him see that. "Sure."
"Great," he half heartedly smiled. "Jacob said that's your favourite thing to do, so - have fun."
With that, he walked away. The girl glanced over to the desk before her, seeing Jacob deep in concentration as he stared at his computer screen. "What's your job today, Jacob?"
"Spreadsheets," he grinned. "Sangyeon said it's my strong suit thanks to your help."
Jangmi chuckled, nodding at his happiness as she turned to look towards the office door.
Her eyes lingered there for a moment, narrowing ever so slightly as she wondered the same thought again - what was wrong with Lee Sangyeon?
What was wrong with Lee Sangyeon? He found himself wondering the same thing.
His eyes skimmed the shelves, darting from item to item as he stood in utter confusion. Why was it so hard just to pick up a couple things?
Why was it so hard just to pick up a couple things that she would hopefully like?
"Hard decision, huh?" The voice of the cashier interrupted his thoughts.
He looked over to see the cashier was a woman not much older than he was. She smiled warmly and widely at him, her dark hair cut barely above her chin. "Very."
"Anything I can help you with?" She was kind, too. Or maybe that was just her job.
"Not really," he chuckled, shaking his head. "Just trying to remember what she likes."
"Ahh, 'she'?" She quizzed, propping her elbows upon the cashier desk as she rested her head in her palms. "A special someone?"
"No," Sangyeon answered instantly, before looking over to see she was smiling again. "Just a colleague."
Nodding, the woman then resorted to a shrug. "If she isn't fussy then pick up a bunch of things."
Sangyeon nodded, closing his eyes for a second as he tried his best to recall anything he could remember about her likes and dislikes - apart from him.
"Good morning, Sang," Jangmi gushed, passing Sangyeon's table as she dropped the small plastic bag upon it. "For you."
He smiled at the sight although his eyes trailed her body to the desk across from his own that she occupied. "What's this?"
"Some treats," she shrugged, sitting down as she logged onto her computer, barely giving him a second look.
That was until she watched his eyes widen ever so slightly, smiling at her as she returned it. "You shouldn't have, Mi."
"It was 2 for 1," she joked, placing her own snacks upon the table. "Don't feel too special."
Opening his eyes, Sangyeon turned to the drinks, his eyes landing upon that familiar bottle. Mango - her favourite flavour.
He grabbed a couple of bottles, heading to the check out as she nodded at his choice. "Is that all?"
"Do you know anywhere nearby I can get some fresh cinnamon buns?" He quizzed, the woman chuckling as she nodded.
"Funnily enough, I do," the dark haired woman smiled.
He watched as she searched for a pen and a piece of paper, writing what he could only assume was directions or an address. With a smile, she handed it over to him. "Thank you, I owe you."
"Not at all," she shook her head, smiling as she watched him leave.
Sangyeon glanced down at the note, smiling as he knew exactly where she meant. He grinned even wider when he seen the digits written at the bottom.
Chuckling to himself, he stuck it into his pocket, reminding himself to check it later.
"Oh, something smells good."
Mumbles from around the office made Jangmi glance up, the telephone resting upon her shoulder as she wrote down notes. "When he gets back I will ask him to give you a call."
Closing the conversation, the girl hummed as she placed the phone down. "They aren't for you."
She peers up to see Sangyeon and Jacob at his desk, the younger evidently trying to get a good look into whatever was in their bosses bag.
"Sangyeon," Jangmi cleared her throat, ripping off the piece of paper as she stood up. "Mr Martin called, I told him you'd call him back. Extension 3, the number is here..."
"I'll get him soon, thank you," he nodded, taking the piece of paper from her. "Here."
"Huh?" She stared at his hand holding out the bag Jacob was gawking at. "What?"
Sangyeon fought a smile, for once she wasn't looking at him as though he had horns coming out of his head. "You haven't taken a break today, so enjoy."
He ensured her hand had grasped the bag before walking towards his office, leaving her standing in a dazed and confused state.
She glanced over to Jacob, unsure if what she had just experienced was real.
He chuckled, watching as she sat down at her desk, her eyes peering into the bag as her favourite scent filled her senses. She noticed the yellow writing on the bottle, pulling it out before taking a drink.
With a sigh, she leaned back in her chair as she turned off her computer screen, relaxing for just a moment.
Sangyeon sat too, eating the rest of the leftover bun he had started eating on the way back.
He reached into his pocket, retrieving the two pieces of paper he had been given today.
Staring at the one with the pretty cashiers number upon it, he pondered on why it was so difficult to reach into his other pocket and log her as a contact on his phone.
Glancing over at the desk that his best friend occupied with the girl he was sure he once knew, he smiled when he seen her nodding her head with every bite she took.
It was then he disregarded that one piece of paper, focussing on the other as he picked up the phone.
"Hi, Mr Martin. It's Lee Sangyeon here..."
