He was there, at the park. He didn't think he could do it, but he did.

He finally told her everything she laid awake at night fearing. He told her he didn't love her. Her worst nightmare, the biggest monster that she told herself wasn't real, came to life right in front of her that day.

He knew he didn't mean it, but he also knew it wouldn't have lasted. He had one single rule for himself and he broke it.

'Never let your guard down. Never let yourself be happy. It won't last'.

That rule was the only thing he had left until she showed up. She stole away his only ounce of control he had left. So he took it back with so much force he thought he might fall backwards.
