I jump into George's car with a big smile on my face. I'm nervous, but yIu don't have to hide it from George. It wouldn't work anyway since he knows me well enough and would see right through me right away..
George Smiles at me „little miss sunshine, ready for your first day as my performance coach?" He says and looks at me. I can see that he is proud of me.
„Georgieeeee I'm so nervous ,not only because the new job. I mean i will push you to your limits easy." I have to grin. „But to travel the world with my family & my best friend what should be better ?" I ask him.
For a second I think too much about my last sentence and my smile disappear. My mind immediately goes back to Abu Dhabi last year and what happened afterwards. I feel the fear spreading in your chest... I try to hide it, but George knows me better..
„I know you've go through a really tough time, i hope the new job and time with me will let you heal step by step. You know I'm here for you every time you need me" says George seriously. And I know he means it. George is the person i can always count on. George gives me a soft smile.
„Thank you so much for being my best friend and for everything you have done for me especially in the last months" I say and hug him tight. I take a deep breath, shake off your thoughts, and sit up straight again, facing forward. „thats enough with sentimentality. I want my old ME back and i think this is the right way...but seriously you remember when i prepared you for your Kart Season ? This is nothing compared to what is waiting for you now." I give him a seriously glance.
George has to laugh. „yes i remember... thats the reason i know you're the right person for this job! You can't disagree because we all know it's a FACT"
„I want you to stand out alongside the 7-time World Champion. I know hat you can beat anyone but only with hard work so let's get started"
„I will give my best! So let's go to the track!" George says and start the car. The ride is short but fun. Me and George are performing to our favorite song in the car again.
We arrive at the track...I have missed it so much... the view, the cars, the air, everything . Formerly every year I visit 2-3 races but this year I will be at every race and do what I can do the best...
Me and George walked trough the paddock. We discuss the schedule for the weekend, plan the first workouts and George shows me around the paddock. First he shows me the the Mercedes Garage. I see toto and run to him and hug him tight.
„Hey Darling, nice to See you. I shall greet you from Susi & Jack. They will come on sunday and watch the race. I'm really glad to see you here" Toto say.
„Wonderful, I'm exited to see them. Do you have already the results from thetestdrives? I want to see how the new car is affecting the bodies of the drivercompared to last year. Then i can advise George perfectly."
„Yes, i send it to your E-mail in a few minutes. Im glad how motivated you are...but between us two.... If it gets too much for you or too much people please let me know.." He looks at me seriously and worried.
I ignore the last sentence. „I want to prove that i got the job because i deserved it and not because I'm your niece.." This is really important for me... I know that Mercedes employees are like family, but I want to prove to myself that i can do it. I know I've only just finished my studies, but I've never lacked self-confidence.
In the moment Toto want to answer someone shouts my Name
„SOFIA? Is it really you?"
I turn around and immediately have a smile on my lips. „Lewis, long time no see." I say it with a cold voice..but I cant act for long, so I have to smile again when i look in his eyes.
„I'm happy to see you, we missed you here..especially the british guy next to me.." He winks to George and have to laugh.
„that's no secret I think." and there it is again, George's proud look again.
„So Guys,I'm going to finish my workout plans for George.. George see you in two hours." I leave the room and Toto, George & Lewis look after me.
„Lewis.. George.. please keep an eye on her... she is a master at hiding her feelings and her mental health..
