Sofia's POV
When my alarm goes in the morning I would like to scream into my pillow. I just hope that the day goes by quickly today. I get ready. I have heavy circles under my eyes and are trying to cover them up with make-up.
Today is the first Qualifying and I'm nervous as if I were driving myself. I enter the paddock and bump right into someone..Can I make it one day without bumping into anyone?
„Sorry for that, I didn't look properly" I said softly.. I just wasn't really awake yet.
„Yes yes blah blah.." I recognized Max voice immediately.
I look Max in the face and see that his dark circles are even worse than mine. Had he slept badly too? I shake my head.. there's no reason to accost me so stupid...
„Blah Blah? how old are you? Four? Yes, have a great day too."I said annoyed and Max rolls his eyes and leaves.
I wonder what I did to him ..Does he have a problem with me? Oh, I don't care. I think when I hear my name.
„Good Morning Mrs Mercedes ready for first qualifying ?" Charles and Carlos are suddenly standing next to you.
„My two favorite Ferrari boys, what better thing could happen to me in the morning, huh?"
I have to laugh.."Do you have to go to the garage too? let's go together?" Carlos , Charles and you chat all the way.
You go into the garage and greet all the employees and end up hugging your uncle. „Hello Darling, how was your evening yesterday?" he asked, looking happily.
„I had a great night thanks for asking..." I smile at him and do a little dance.
„do we also hire dancers here?" I hear George say laughing behind me.
„Haha Georgie did you have a clown for breakfast? Are you ready? We have to warm you up.
„of course I'll be there in 5 minutes" He say and I leave the garage.
George's POV
I wait until she leave the garage and look at Toto. „Toto yesterday was a great night for Sofia... I haven't seen her so relaxed in a long time... but..." I'm trying to figure out how to finish the sentence.
„But what?"His voice sounds serious straight away.
„Have you seen her dark circles? She tried to cover it up, but you can still see. We must always keep an eye on her"
Toto nodded to me and I made my way to her.
Deep down I wish that she is completely fine again, but I have to be realistic. It will be a long process to process everything that happened last year.
I'm glad you had so much fun yesterday... I saw the "old" Sofia briefly again. Sofia laughing and enjoying her carefree life. Sofia who always has a joke on her lips and doesn't let anything or anyone get her down
I walk into her office and she really has no mercy. Even her warm ups are hard..
Qualifying wasn't going well for me...
P9...P fucking 9... I'm driving a Mercedes no longer the Williams and I'm 9th... A tiny mistake on my final fast lap in Q3. It was a stupid mistake.
I jump out of the car and goes straight to my driver's room....
Sofia's POV
I see George walking towards the driver room. He's mad I get it... it was a small mistake but he needs to know he's not a machine. I'll give him 5 minutes and then I'll go to him.
I see Lewis also comes out of his car, he qualified P4.
„Congratulations Lewis you got the maximum out of it I think. Ferrari and Redbull were just stronger today"
Lewis doesn't look happy „Yes I know. but the car needs to get better. it's going to be such a difficult season... have you seen George? I think he's even worse than me mentally."
I shake my head. „Wish me luck. I'm checking on him now" Lewis is symbolically crossing his fingers for me.
I knock on George's driver room..there is only an annoyed "come in"
„Do you want to talk about it?"I ask cautiously. If George wants to, I know he can explode quickly.
„What should we talk about? It was just stupid of me"he says annoyed. „Georgie but you know that you're just a normal person? You are not a robot" I reply.
„Everyone said I wouldn't be able to compete with Lewis and now they all think they're right" now you hear something unusual in his voice. Is that really insecure? George has never been insecure in his working life and he shouldn't be now either.
„GEORGE WILLIAM RUSSEL! There are still so many races to come and it has just been the first qualifying. You're acting like we're sitting here in Abu Dhabi..Tomorrow is the race and you will show everyone what you can do...and now i don't want to hear any more shit about what other people say... that has never interested us."Wow, I don't know where this strength of mine suddenly came from, but it feels good.
George looks at me and smiles slightly. „If you use my full name I know it's serious...but you are right. I'll make everything up tomorrow... Thanks for cheer me up, sunshine. Love you, you know that right?"I hug him tightly and nod. We both needed that hug.
„If something is bothering you would tell me, right?" He looks at me seriously.
„love you too and now bum up we're still training today, then you'll be even better tomorrow!"
