I look at Max in surprise.. who did he call? would it be wise to ask him who he was on the phone with?
I can't stop myself.. I have to ask him. „who was that on the phone?" I try to sound as relaxed as possible. Why am I so uncomfortable now? Why did Max lie to the person on the phone where he is? Does he have a girlfriend?
„My father..I had an appointment with him in the simulator an hour ago. So I can train before the flight. I'm sorry but I have to go. I don't want to be so unromantic, but otherwise my father will send a search command." Max also seems to be tense and I have to agree with him that I don't want Jo's father to be looking for us either.
„No problem Max. The night and the morning was really wonderful. I assume we'll see each other at the next race?" I say it shyl, I don't want to make Max feel like he has to..
„At the latest.. and maybe we Facetime today or tomorrow?" He looks back at me with his big blue eyes and smiles softly. I feel like my heart is about to jump out of my chest again.
„That sounds great. Just let me know when you're done with the simulator and I'll call you when I'm home, but I still have one question... Can we keep it to ourselves for now? Of course George knows about it, but I don't want everyone talking about it?" I asked cautiously.
„No problem. I want to tell Daniel... he is my absolute confidante...but otherwise my lips are sealed." Max collects his things and gives me another kiss...but I pull him back onto the bed and kiss him passionately...after 5 minutes break the kiss.
I smile „Max, you have to go now. I look forward to our phone call." I get a quick kiss before Max leaves the room.
Shortly after Max leaves I take my phone and call George directly via Facetime. „Finally I thought you were missing...or even worse that you replaced me" First George pouts before he has to laugh too.
„Dramatic as always Georgieee... so do you want to know what happened?" I smiled at him.
George looks at me cheekily „Spill the Tea." I tell him everything every little thing and every feeling I had with Max in the last 18 hours.
„Wow... that sounds great and I think it's great that you want to take it slow...I think you have to be sure before the social media pressure hits you." I hear George concerned.. „Yeah I think you're right...but all I can think about is tonight when Max and me will Facetime." I find myself glowing as I speak. Me and George talk on the phone for almost an hour before you pack up and head to the airport.
The next few weeks will fly by, me and Max FaceTime almost every day. At the races, in addition to the preparations and party after the race, we also try to meet privately.
It's the Monaco GP and I'm on the phone with Max on the way to the airport to catch my flight. „How can it be that you are always so late for your flights .." Max grins at me across the screen.
I shake my shoulders „I don't know either. I just slept too long oppppps. I have to hang up now, I'll call you when I'm at the hotel."
„You didn't have to take a hotel room, you can sleep in my apartment." says Max with conviction.
„I'll come to you...but how should I have explained to my uncle that I don't need a hotel room?" I wink at him. Max knows I'm right, if we want to take it slow, nobody should notice.
„You are right. I wish you a good flight princess. I'll see you tonight." Max waves at the camera. „See you soon my little secret." We smiles at each other and I hang up.
After the flight and checking into the hotel, I go for a walk. Max is still in an appointment and wants to come and pick me up later. I am strolling through Monaco with my mobile phone in my pocket. It's really nice here, I understand why Max lives here. The sun is shining on my skin and it almost feels like vacation. As I walk through Monaco I hear my name.
„Sofia!! Hey what are you doing here I thought the teams only arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday?" I turn and look into Charles' eyes. I've never seen him so casual in jeans and a t-shirt. Charles hugs me.
„Hi Charles yes. I'm here earlier because..." I idiot I should have thought of an excuse beforehand. „um I wanted to explore the city a bit more." Really Sofia, you can't think of anything better, I ask myself.
„Let's go grab a coffee. I'll show you the most beautiful cafe here in Monaco" Charles smiles and already takes my hand.
I'll check my phone again to be sure. Max hasn't gotten in touch yet. I make it loud to be on the safe side so that I can hear when he answers. There's nothing wrong with a coffee with someone you know.
„Alright I'm excited" I say and Me and Charles make our way to the cafe and Charles explains a lot about the city to me.
