Chapter 7 / Sofia's POV

George traveled to Australia separately as he still had an interview meeting. When George arrived at the hotel he wrote to me and I immediately went to see him that you wanted to spend the evening together.

He opened the door, but when I looked at his face my smile broke. Without saying anything, I hugged him and closed the door behind me. "Georgie what happened? blurted it out right out of me.

He took a deep breath before speaking "Carmen needs a break" his voice was low. "What? Why? Did you guys fight? I asked surprised.

"Well, I told her I wished she'd come to every run..." oh I knew what that was going to be like, but I let George go on, "She told me that with her job it's not possible to go to everyone run to come." he added.

"And you told her to quit and you take care of both of you?" I said it a little more reproachfully than I meant it.

"Am I that easy to see through?" He asked me and I smiled briefly "Well, after that Carmen was really angry and said that she wanted to take care of herself and that she loved her job."

George took another deep breath in and out before continuing. "We argued and argued and then she wanted a break.. I took my stuff and just left"

I hugged him again"I understand you both, I'm your best friend and that's why I'm honest with you. You know Carmen loves her job and then expecting her to quit isn't fair. Of course, I understand that you want to have them with you more often, but I am sure you will find a compromise...promise me you'll talk to her again!"

„I will try... thank you for your advice and honest words.."he said, sounding a little more relaxed.

We ordered some food and searched Netflix for a good movie "No George..you know I hate horror movies..please don't make me" I looked at him with pitying eyes.

But I wasn't the only one who knew how to persuade the other. George said nothing and looked sadly into my eyes. I had to avoid his eyes and laugh a little... we knew the first one who avoided his eyes had lost.

„Being your best friend really drives me crazy sometimes" I said laughing and he turned on the horror movie.

It was Saturday morning and I was early in the paddock. I prepared everything for George's warm up.

When George comes into the room, we start right away.

"I'm ready, I feel good today," he said.

"Have you spoken to Carmen?" I asked him, actually it wasn't good to talk about something like that before qualifying, but sometimes I couldn't separate my job from my private life.

"Not yet, but I don't think she's going to answer either.. I mean, what can I say? Sorry, I was stupid?" he looked at me questioningly. I had to laugh a little "I think that sounds like a good start" Now George smiled too.

Qualifying was exciting and we could be satisfied with the result.

My uncle is also satisfied with the performance of the two, more was simply not possible today.

"Hey you two" said Lewis and looked at me and George "would you like to come over tonight? Just something to eat and chill, I've invited a couple of drivers over," he added.

I looked at George "I'm out today, I have something to do" and winked at me.

"I'm in" I said.

Nothing spectacular happened yet so I was on my way to Lewis's room. Tomorrow is race day so it's a relaxed sober evening... Everyone is sitting on and around the couch and small groups have formed. I sit with Charles, Charlotte and Lando. In another corner sit Lewis, Max, Daniel and Carlos with Isa.

"Sofia I'll be honest, I'm jealous of George. He's been a lot better since you're his performance coach, but you scare me too because you seem to enjoy tormenting him," says Lando, laughing out loud.

"Who wouldn't enjoy that?" I said and also had to laugh.

Everybody is laughing. Charles and Charlotte talk about what their plans for the Summer break. Charlotte had been monologuing for 5 minutes and I wondered when she was going to stop talking. „Yes, and after that I would like to shop there and I heard a new shop has opened, too" was she finally done?

„Yes Charlotte don't worry there will be enough time for shopping" He roll his eyes a little bit "Just please remember that we also spend time with my family" adds Charles

"Yes, sometime after that we will also spend time with your family," she said, sounding annoyed. Is she kidding me? She has no reason to be annoyed.

I look at Lando, he is also surprised by Charlotte's statement. But he shakes his head slightly.. he knows exactly what i wanted to say... i wanted to hold myself back but i couldn't quite manage it. An almost audible "tzzzz" left my mouth.

„tzzzz? What are you trying to tell me?" Charlotte looked at me provocatively.

I really didn't want to say anything about it, but her provocative look didn't fail to have an effect.

"Do you know how many people wish for a life like you have?" She looked at me and I realized that she didn't know what I meant, so I added "I just think you could appreciate your life more. The travel and your family is often with you and all of that."

"Come on girls, we don't have to discuss that here now" Charles tried to save the situation.

But I knew it was too late.. but I didn't expect what came next.

Charlotte straightened up „how do you get the right to judge that? you don't even have parents so how are you going to judge that?"

Suddenly the whole room falls silent „Charlotte are you serious? Charles ask angry.

„what, it's true" she says confidently.

I'm still sitting speechless processing what Charlotte just said. I knew we didn't like each other, but it was hard for her to throw something like that at me. I felt my eyes fill with tears,

but I don't want to give Charlotte the satisfaction.I get up without saying a word and leave the room.

As soon as i'm out of reach i run to my room and close the door.. i sink to the floor with tears streaming down my cheeks.
