"Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey gather beneath the SandMound!" Kelpkit sighed. That was their leader preparing for a Clan meeting.
She knew what it would be for. She and her four siblings were finally old enough to be apprenticed. But this ceremony wasn't for her. She hated every single cat in her Clan, she hated how in the end it was always a "she'll probably be a medicine cat" or "she'll spend the rest of her days caring for the kits and elders." She was so tired of this. Couldn't anybody see she could be a warrior too?
"As you may know, five of our kits are old enough to be apprenticed." Wow, they actually included me! what a surprise. "And four of them are ready to be apprenticed!" Poolstar, the Clan leader said. Kelpkit twitched her tail angrily. She was ready to be apprenticed, they were just urchin-hearts and didn't think she was able to become a warrior! She didn't want to be a crusty musty medicine cat either, her whole life planned out by StarClan! She was ready! She could do it!
"I'm ready to be apprenticed!" She exclaimed, her voice sounding squeakier than she would have liked it to. Immediately, everybody turned around. She knew what they were thinking.
"Look the cripple wants to be a warrior!"
"Poolstar is definitely going to make her a medicine cat."
"We all have dreams."
Poolstar sighed, she was about to begin her lecture. "Look Kelpkit, I'm sorry but, I'm not sure you can be able to be a warrior apprentice, whenever you jump you lose your balance, we can't have a cat like that in battle. You could get hurt." Murmurs of agreement rose in the crowd. She peeled her lips back in a snarl and tried not to cry.
"Come on Poolstar, she's ready to be an apprentice." She heard a voice in the crowd and soon realized it was Ploverwing, the medicine cat. "She can be a warrior apprentice if she wants too." Like magic, Poolstar sighed, and then said "Ok, everybody deserves a chance" But it was clearly obvious that she did not believe that. She looked down at the cats. "So let's begin."

"..Your mentor will be Coralsplash.." Poolstar said to Kelppaw. Coralsplash! She thought as she looked down at the nimble she-cat. Excitement fluttered in her chest. Coralsplash was the most agile and swift cat in the Clan! She was lucky to have her as her mentor!
