For a town with "pleasant" in its name, you'd think it'd consist of more than just some run-down strip malls and a surplus of mattress stores. But no. Since we're a half hour north of Sandpiper Beach (the over-the-top tacky yet somehow also ritzy city which I've come to learn is apparently the only notable area in northwest Florida), we don't get those precious tourist dollars and that's why we can't have nice things. Like a Target. Or a Chipotle. Or literally anything other than Barry's Bargain Barn. I wish I was joking, but yes, that's a real store. In fact, it could be considered the crown jewel of Pleasantview. What a place.

I guess I probably shouldn't complain. For one thing, I have a whole ass bay in my backyard now, which is pretty sweet. Admittedly, the view *is* pleasant. Who would've thought?? I'm also 900 miles away from the cold and barren wasteland that is Ohio, instead living in the warm and slightly less barren wasteland of Pleasantview. Look, nothing against Ohio, okay? But I'm just being honest, it kinda sucks. Yeah, we had Cedar Point, and Skyline Chili, and...I dunno, killer geese? But I didn't really vibe with anyone at school, I was far away from my brother, and my thoughts were constantly being invaded by my ex no matter where I went. Not exactly fun times. But then my mom apparently decided she had also had enough, and asked if I wanted to move to Florida. I mean, duh, yes. What person says "no, I wanna stay in the beautiful freaking state of Ohio"??? A lunatic, that's who. Okay, I'm sorry for the Ohio slander, I'll stop. Love ya, Ohio. Kinda (not really).

Anyway. Since I've been in the Sunshine State, I'm trying to think of this as the Isaac 4.0 era. A rebrand, I guess. See, Isaac 1.0 was fine for a while, until *insert multiple traumatic experiences* caused me to evolve into a very broken 2.0 which I'd very much like to forget. Then some stuff happened and I reconnected with my brother and sorta found my way, and 3.0 was born. And 3.0 was fine for a while, but it was time for an upgrade. God, I sound like such a nerd talking about this. For the record, I'm not a nerd. Nothing against nerds- I'm just gonna shut up.

I'm so zoned out staring out the windshield that it takes me a second to realize Skye is talking to me.

SKYE: Earth to Isaac?

I take my eyes off the road for a sec and glance to my right. She's got her feet kicked up on the dash and is busy messing with her phone.

"Sorry, what?"

SKYE: Okay, so you're gonna murder me, but-

"Lemme guess. You want Angry Bean, don't you?"

SKYE: You know me well, good sir.

"I mean, coffee is basically one of your defining personality traits."

SKYE: Like how "annoying" is one of yours?

"Shut up."

She smiles.

SKYE: Sooooo...Angry Bean?

I sigh.

"Fiiiiiiine."

SKYE: You are literally the only person I've met who doesn't get excited about coffee. Why are we even friends? I should be hanging out with your brother, someone who actually appreciates the art of the bean.
