how you got here with these folks, it was all thanks to kogure's persuasion (with a little help from akagi and mitsui). they know you quite well from class as one of the basketball team's avid supporters.
besides, you're kogure's seatmate and each other's emergency contact in case one of you would miss class.
*miyagi: jump around
currently on the mic was miyagi, the sharp point guard, taking over the center stage and rapping house of pain's jump around. his backup vocalists were his fellow troublemakers mitsui and sakuragi, shamelessly belting out "JUMP JUMP JUMP–"
rukawa was seated on a corner, bobbing his his head and humming the words to himself. ayako was laughing and taking a video of everyone. akagi was actually enjoying all of this, to his surprise.
meanwhile, you and kogure browsed the song list.
"kogure, you sure know how to drag me out of home on a friday night huh," you chided as you flipped the list to the next page.
he chuckled softly. "ah (L/N), i suddenly recalled one class outing where you practically owned the mic."
your cheeks flushed. that was an unofficial night out with your classmates, but you really couldn't resist karaoke. but for your crush to remember such detail...
when you finally found a song that you like. you tapped the song number to the tablet, then it appeared on the queue. you weren't sure how long before you could have your chance to sing because of the long list, but you didn't mind.
when miyagi finished, all eyes were on the big tv screen for his score: a whopping 95 for his jump around.
both miyagi's and sakuragi's laughter filled the place, boasting and cheering each other for the hard work. mitsui asked for credit on his backup vocals. rukawa sighed.
*mitsui: hands to heaven
"alriiiight, who's next!! ah it's you, mitsui-senpai!" ayako called out, then the low hums and beats of the song started playing.
the basketball team's manager continued filming, finding this song choice for mitsui interesting while the troublemakers were all focused (more of puzzled??) on the MVP's mellow singing. akagi snickered, entertained by seeing this side of mitsui that he started recording on his phone as well.
"mit-chan, truly you're a softie!" was all the amazed sakuragi said.
you got up from your seat to stand on one vacant corner, eyebrows furrowed and paying full attention to mitsui. you noticed kogure enabling mitsui by applauding and cheering.
"morning has come, another day. i must pack my bags and say goodbye. goodbye~"
admittedly, you were also baffled by his song choice, but at the same time in awe of how he was nailing it. "unbelievable?" was all you could utter.
when mitsui finished, the screen flashed a score of 99. all of you were floored. he remained standing in the center, mocking everyone with laughter. "you guys thought i was soft! the machine didn't think so!"
"this machine is biased," rukawa said to no one in particular. but for once, sakuragi nodded in agreement.
miyagi walked to the front, inspecting the screen and the machine. "welp. this must be rigged–"
