Everyone always looked forward to their usual summer beach day. It was always an enjoyable day for family and friends after a long school year. Ginny furrowed her eyebrows as she checked the time once again after setting up their exceptionally large area on the shore.
"Has anyone heard from Neville and Hannah? It's not really like them to be late." Ginny stated clearly concerned about two of her closest friends.
"Oh, right, they cancelled. Something about Alice being upset about something." Harry informed his wife with a shrug. Ginny almost instantly turned to James and raised an eyebrow.
"Well? What did you do?" Ginny asked him as she crossed her arms. James simply shrugged at her not wanting to go into detail. He glanced at Teddy before turning back to his mother.
"Rather not talk about it, Mum." James told her before taking off his t-shirt and heading towards the water. Teddy couldn't quite stop himself from staring until Victoire interrupted him.
"Staring is rude, Ted." Victoire joked as she moved in front of him. Teddy rolled his eyes at her before following James to the water. Once he reached the slightly younger man, he let out a small sigh.
"Can we maybe talk about it?" Teddy asked him curiously. A topic he wanted to speak on since it happened but never had the courage to bring it up.
"What's there to talk about?" James asked him without taking his eyes off the horizon.
"The picture you posted on Vic's account." Teddy told him. "That wasn't just a fun picture that we took. Or at least to me it wasn't." Teddy admitted to him. James finally turned to him as confusion washed over his face.
"What do you mean by that?" James asked him. Teddy shrugged as he looked down at his feet and ran his foot over the sand and seashells.
"I think I'm falling in love with you, Jamie." Teddy told him, not daring to look at him. James briefly smiled before it was quickly replaced by a frown.
"We're basically brothers. Wouldn't that be a bit weird?" James asked him. Teddy shrugged, finally allowing himself to look back at James.
"Your dad is my godfather and he made sure my grandmother and I had whatever we needed and I appreciate him for that, but we weren't raised together. I moved in with you guys when my grandmother's memory started slipping when I was 17. I moved out three years later. If we were raised together, then yes, it would be a bit weird. But we weren't. Im more like a close family friend if you want to be technical about it." Teddy explained. It took a moment for James to process everything before nodding in agreement.
"I guess when you put it like that, it's not so weird. But I'm not ev-" Before James could get the last sentence out, Teddy quickly cut him off.
"If you say I'm not even gay, I will literally end you. I know you have feelings for me, you told me right after Vic took that picture. You were shit faced but still." Teddy reminded him. James sighed as he looked back at his family and friends who were now all spread out.
"Can we keep it between us? I just want to tell my parents before anyone else." James told him. Teddy smiled at him and nodded.
"Take all the time you need." Teddy told him. James smiled and nodded. "There's a bar down this way if you want to join me for a drink. Could be like our first date." Teddy offered as he began walking away. James rolled his eyes as he began following him down the beach.
Slowly everyone had went their separate ways. Molly stayed on the shore reading while Lucy tanned next to her. Fred and Louis decided to go exploring. Scorpius and Rose decided to walk the beach together looking for seashells. Lysander and Lily spent most of their time in the water together. Victoire and Dominique decided to use their brother's paddle board. Lorcan and Hugo eventually left the small group that had remained in search of the best place to make out. As the day went on, everyone had seemingly forgot about their problems with one another. By the time the sun was beginning set, everyone was together once again. Except for one particular person.
