This is my first thanksgiving , In London this would be another normal day but Americans do it quite differently

"Cee are you ready" Chanel asks

"Almost" I said putting on my maroon long sleeve

"Omg baby you look adorable" she said with a smile

"I feel like a child" I said laughing

"You look adorable" she says kissing my cheek

"Of course you would think that" I said pulling her towards me

"Okay Oakley I gotta finish getting ready" she said laughing

"Why don't we just stay home" I said with a smile

"Oakley we're going to my moms" she says walking away

"Ma this American holiday is cock blocking me" i said rolling my eyes

"You'll be okay if your good you'll be rewarded" she says winking at me

"Ugh okay Ma" I said putting on my shoes

Chanel finished getting ready and we got in the car, after a bit , we walked into her moms house and I smelled something I couldn't tell if it was good or bad it was just interesting

"Oakley i how are you" Chanel's mom says greeting me

"Nice to see you Ms woods" I said with a smile

"You can call me Elizabeth, and I know your not used to thanksgiving so if you don't like something it's okay" she says with a reassuring smile

"Thank you for that Elizabeth " I said with a smile

"Mom do u need help with anything" Chanel asked

"Not right now you 2 can go sit down and watch the football game"  she said gesturing to the living room

Me and Chanel sat on the couch and I saw soccer not football

"This is- oh wait American thing never mind" I said laughing

"What American thing" Karl said walking in

"In America you call it football instead of soccer" I said laughing

"Oh yeah" Karl said laughing

I was having fun but it was now dinner time, I sat down and was waiting to eat since in my house we sat grace before a big meal

"Okay before we eat does anybody volunteer to say grace" Elizabeth asks

"I volunteer cee" Karl says

"I uh I'm willing I just don't know what to say" I said trying not to be awkward

"Just say whatever you feel" Elizabeth said gesturing is to join hands

"Thank You, Lord God, for this food we are about to eat. Thank You for the hands that have prepared it, for those sitting around the table who are here to share it, and for the ability to be here together under one roof, and enjoy these blessings at Your hand. We realize that everything we have comes from You and for that we are eternally grateful. We sit here as evidence of Your goodness. Thank You for the gift of today and all who are here to share it with us. In Jesus name we pray amen " I said with a smile

"Let's eat" John laughed

I started eating it was pretty good I just wasn't used to it

"What's everyone thankful for" Elizabeth asks

"I'll start, I'm thankful for my family, new found friends, and my boyfriend" Jordyn says kissing Karl's cheek

Everyone went around saying what they were grateful for but then it got to chanel

"I'm thankful for my family, the opportunities life has presented to me, the obstacles I've overcome and of course I'm thankful for you Oakley" she said grabbing my hand

"Uh I uh I'm thankful for my family which includes my new found family sitting here now, I'm grateful for the blessings god has given me, and finally I'm thankful for my girlfriend" I said with a smile

The rest of dinner and our visit was great I learned a lot and had a good time
