There was intention behind everything she said - like when she told Damon to stop skipping and hopping down the street like an overactive child she meant it. Damon, on the other hand, talked without thinking. Spewing out any and all thoughts that crossed his mind. Apparently, telling her that 'Dan Abnormal' was an anagram of his name was super important.

He'd point out that the sky was blue just for an excuse to talk - god, he loved the sound of his own voice.

There hadn't been a quiet second since they had left the apartment. A constant rambling of useless information. She wasn't even replying anymore, even when he asked her a question. He didn't mind, he would wait a minute to see if she was going to answer and, when she didn't, he'd just continue talking.

However, there wasn't even a flicker of irritation on her face. By some miracle, she had managed to get used to the stream of facts and opinions being thrown at her. His mindless chatter was like white noise. East to tune out especially when she didn't care - but when the topic changed, talking about some stupid music competition that he had won as a kid, she couldn't help but notice how he seemed to light up at the mention of music.

She had turned to the side to see he was looking at the floor as he talked. He didn't have his usual cocky grin but wore a smile of genuine happiness. His eyes seemed brighter and it was almost cute how enthusiastic he was - cute if he wasn't Damon.

He had just finished telling her something about the violin (she thinks) when he looked at her. She was too caught up with the fact that she didn't find him completely repulsive for once to actually listen to what he was saying, a dazed expression on her face. Assuming that he was going to tease her, for catching her looking, she prepared herself for the moment but he never did.

"Why are you smiling?", he asked without a hint of mocking in his tone.

She hadn't even realised that she had been, returning to a stoic look as she shook her head, "I wasn't.", surprisingly, he didn't question it. Thank god for that, how was she ever meant to explain that she liked it when he talked about something he was passionate about? How he usually flaunted his excitement but when it came to something he actually cared about then he would talk about it delicately.

"I cannot believe it.", Damon announced. She looked at him worried, maybe he was going to question it, but then her nerves were calmed as he said, "We actually made it to the shop without you slapping me or pushing me into any passing cars."

"There's still the way back.", she told him with a sarcastic smile. He grinned back, he wasn't meant to find it funny but of course, he did - fucking bellend, couldn't even let her successfully deliver an insult.
