THREE

"Bitch."

"Fucking slut."

"Why don't you go kill yourself, dumb slut."

"The world would be better off without you."

Scanning down the online page of Jessica Tamra made me feel sick. Did our school have no shame? Did we really have to abuse a poor girl not only in the confines of our school, but in the walls of her own house? Through this online website? It sickened me beyond belief. I watched as another message popped up on the screen, posted by Kaitlyn Greens, the resident queen of the school.

"Twinkle twinkle little whore. Close your legs, they're not a door. Heard you're pregnant babe. Hope the baby isn't as ugly as you, otherwise the news cameras are gonna come knocking. I can see the story now: Ugly Mother Gives Birth to Even Uglier Baby. Good luck with that one sweetie. P.S. You deserve everything you're getting right now, back-stabbing bitch xoxo"

I shut the screen of my laptop quickly and flopped back on my bed. There was nothing I could do to help Jessica. As much as I wanted to stand up and protect her, defend her, there was no going against Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn would tear me limb from limb, and my mask would come tumbling down.

Kaitlyn Greens was a lot like Regina George from Mean Girls. Same bottle blonde hair, same blue eyes and same sinister personality. There was just one difference though; Kaitlyn was real. It was as if her parents sat her down as a child to watch the movie, and she made a conscious decision then and there that Regina is who she wanted to be. She was smart, beautiful, manipulative and oh so easy to simply follow. She was the self-proclaimed leader of our little school, and took it on herself to make life a living hell for each and every one of us. There was no escaping her reign, and there was no escaping her terror. Everyone was her primary victim at least once, and those who she felt threatened by got beat down harder than everyone else. That's where Jessica came in. She was a threat to Kaitlyn, and Kaitlyn didn't like that.

Jessica was a naturally beautiful girl. She was a transfer student and she skited around the edges of the student body for a few months before she was finally accepted by Kaitlyn. I think Kaitlyn underestimated Jessica's natural charm and persuasion. Soon, Jessica was becoming one of the most well liked girls in school. She even managed to catch the eye of sporting super star and Greek God, Elliott James. Kaitlyn had been after Elliott since he came to the school, but Elliott was never interested, much to Kaitlyn's frustration.

I could never figure out why actually. Elliott was handsome, intelligent and the most chivalrous guy I'd ever met. He never looked at Kaitlyn as anything more than a friend, no matter how much she threw herself at him. Elliott was more focused on doing well at school and keeping his best friend sane, a best friend who was, surprisingly, me. When Elliott started taking an interest in Jessica, Kaitlyn snapped. I don't really know what she was thinking, and part of me never wants to find out either. Maybe she thought that Jessica wasn't good enough for Elliott (lie one of Kaitlyn's many), or that she was the only one who could have him (lie two). I even hear a rumour that she had planned their wedding and kids because she was convinced that Elliott was secretly in love with her and was trying to work up the courage to ask her out (I wasn't sure whether this was even true or not, but it seemed narcissistic enough for Kaitlyn to try, so I added it to the list anyway: lie three). Either way, it takes a special kind of evil to do what Kaitlyn did. Suddenly, all these rumours were circling about Jessica and her past; that she flashed a guy on webcam, that she slept around and that she broke up a relationship by sleeping with the guy. Suddenly, there were rumours that Jessica had been bitching about her closest friends behind their backs, and flirting with their boyfriends. Suddenly, there was print outs of her conversations stuck around the school and shoved in every locker. Suddenly, no one liked Jessica anymore.
