Jughead POV

It was a mystery why the girl with the broken zipper was behaving so strangely. Maybe it was Riverdale's own monsters that terrified her or the demons of her past catching up.
Our own Nancy Drew, with her golden locks, and her gang headed towards the news that shocked this small town.
The police discovered Jason Blossom's body washed upon the riverbanks, and his sister Cheryl was drenched in ice. We all headed off to comfort Cheryl when I noticed Amy standing in the distance. We locked eyes, giving each other the same cold look.

She was different, with dark brown hair and green and blue eyes that looked like the sea. She wasn't that tall, only five foot one. But she was bad news, and little did I know that those bikers were serpents. Those snakes could be spotted anywhere.

Mary entered the scene and walked towards Amy, putting one arm around her to give her comfort. But why would Amy need comfort from Mary Andrews?

"I'm so sorry for your loss, Cheryl," said Betty, gently rubbing her back.

"You never cared for my JJ. But thank you. We will have a school speech and a party in Jason's name. That's what he would have wanted," Cheryl replied, pulling the blanket more over her shoulders.

"Miss Blossom, would you mind coming to the station for questioning?" said Sheriff Keller.

Cheryl stood up, shaking her head and holding it up high. "Not yet."

Cheryl walked over to Amy and gave her a friendly hug and a light peck on the cheek. "I'm so sorry, I know how close you two were, him travelling to go and see you."

Amy smiled, embracing her dear friend as they both grieved over Jason.

"Cheryl, let's go," demanded Keller, guiding her to the car.

I wondered how many secrets Amy was hiding.

Veronica gave us all a nod, suggesting that we should make our way to school, so we followed the raven's orders, taking us under her wings.

A few hours went by, and we attended school. The atmosphere was gloomier than usual. The news about Jason spread faster than ivy. We had the cheerleaders dropping flowers near his locker, and the jocks shedding a tear or two, as if they cared about him.
Cheryl walked up to the podium, giving a sweet speech to the crowd while gesturing to a photo of her brother. Archie was too busy glancing in Miss Grundy's direction, as if no one would notice.

As Cheryl thanked her subjects, they paid their respects and left the gym. We headed back to class as usual, but I made a quick pit stop first.

I entered my writing room and saw Amy leaning against the desk, crossing her arms. I brushed her off and went to my chair while setting up my computer. Amy raised a brow, watching me closely.

"No hello?" she said in a friendlier tone.

"We're way past hellos, don't you think?" I replied while rolling my eyes.

Amy leaned over my computer, stopping me from turning it on. I sighed and leaned into the cheap leather chair, crossing my arms and looking into her ocean-like eyes.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" she said, curling her lip into a smirk.

"You're being a hindrance at Pops and now invading our school. How did you even get through the doors?" I replied slowly, moving closer to her and resting my arms on the desk.

"Stop being a detective, Juggie. Be a sport and show me around, would you?" she said teasingly.

"That's Betty's job, not mine."

"Hmm, the teacher says otherwise. Come on, Jughead, it's only for a few days to see if I like the school," she said, fluttering her eyelashes.

I didn't want to meddle in the troubled princess's life, nor did I feel like getting to know her. I closed my laptop and put it back into my bag before locking it in one of the drawers. I could feel the princess's eyes watching my every move.

Before I made my attempt to exit the room, she blocked my path, hands on her hips. "What's your actual name? It seriously can't be Jughead," she said.

I dodged the question again, moved around her, headed towards the door, and waited outside the room. The troubled princess muttered something under her breath, fiddling with the locked drawer.

I cleared my throat and gave her a death stare.

"Buzz kill," she flicked her hair behind her shoulders and followed my steps.

As I walked her down the hallways, we didn't exchange many words. I explained the basic school grounds and the rules, but she didn't pay attention. She kept looking around like she was paranoid about something.

"You okay?" I asked.

She snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at me. "Oh yeah, I'm fine."

Moments went by like normal and I stopped at the lockers, leaning against them. Amy stood next to me, looking at a certain redhead running in my direction. It seemed like he just ran a mile.

"Whoa, Arch, what's up?" I said with concern, placing my hand on his right shoulder.

Archie was about to speak but took a glance at Amy, raising a brow. "Who's this?"

"Just a newbie, don't worry about it. What's going on?" I replied.

"The Serpents have just moved into the school," Archie said calmly while running his fingers through his hair.

I narrowed my eyes, slightly leaning closer to Archie. "What?"

"I knew that girl was trouble! It follows her everywhere. I draw my attention back to her, shoving my finger close to her face.
"You send the Serpents back!" Amy frowns and doesn't seem scared or bothered about me coming close to her.

I felt a grab on my right shoulder. "Easy Jughead, don't start blaming her." he replies and stands between me and the princess with horns.

"Thanks, Redhead, but I'm okay."she gives Archie a pat on his arm and heads to English class.

"New girl seems hot," says Archie, raising his eyebrows with a slight smile.

"Pffff, so not, just keep it in your pants and focus on Veronica," I say sharply.

Archie gives me a long stare, trying to work me out like a jigsaw puzzle.

"What?!"

"Nothing..."

"Anyways, why were you giving lingering eyes to Miss Grundy?" I whispered.

Archie pushed me into the empty music room, shushing me. "Not so loud. I didn't raise my voice. Where were you earlier? You were meant to meet us at Pops"

Archie spent the next hour talking to me about his secret love interest. How cliche. A while later, we went to our classes, which dragged like normal. Amy was in most of my classes, but her whole attitude changed, like a sitting duck.

No eyeroll.
No sly comment.
Nothing.

It wasn't long until the school bells rang.
Everyone feld and went back to their homes.
The sky grew dark over the hours and the shadows started creeping in.
And that's when everything went black.
The party, the one no one should off attended to.
