"Why are you doing that?" asked sister Mary with spite.
"I'm helping him" smiled the little girl
"How can you help a dandelion with
fire?"
"But sister Mary, you told me that fire
purify souls" answered the little one.
"And who told you dandelions have one?"
Said the confused nun.
"Sister Sara tol."
Ciaf.
Before the end of the sentence a slap
reverberated in the cappella.
"That girl did no good.... Remember Abiga, her
soul wasn’t good" said Mary with tenderness.
"That's…that’s why father burned her?"
Asked Abiga while sobbing.
"Yes my dear".
"Sorry for hitting you little one but only God's soul is pure".
While saying this words sister Mary
hugged the child and gave her a cross.
"Now take this and go help our sisters".
"Yes sister Mary, may your soul become pure '' said Abiga looking down.
"May all our souls become pure"
Answered solemnly Mary as she fixed the cross on Abiga’s neck.
The nun then went her way leaving
the girl alone.
Her eyes still fixed on the dandelion cinders.
She stood there a few moments until the wind blew the cinders away, then, she walked towards the church basement.
"Where does it come from dear?" asked an old voice from a corner of the room.
"Sister Mary gave it to me'' answered Abiga.
"Oh dear... You must take care of it"
Said a wrinkly nun with seriousness
before taking her cane.
"I will Sister Lucy, please let me help
you".
Said Abiga while taking the trash.
"Such a good child, be cheerful while
you burn the trash."
Spoke Lucy while caressing the little
one’s head.
"Yes Sister Lucy" smiled Abiga.
"May your soul become pure".
"May all our souls become pure".
Sister Lucy then walked away leaving
the girl alone for the uptenth time.
"May all our souls become pure".
This phrase keep repeating itself in
Abiga's head.
For the church, only God was pure but every soul should aim to become like God...
In the end the general vision became to be like this:Aim to pureness and help others to purify themselves.
Abiga loved this way of life, in her mind it was the only way to live and a thought came to her mind while burning the trash.
"If fire purify souls, and every soul needs to be purified to be like God, I can purify all soul with fire"
Abiga thought was a little distorted but, in the end, she was only a little girl in a world of strict doctrine.
"Abiga are you done down there?"
Called the voice of sister Lucy.
"Yes, just one second".
The little girl smiled while looking at the incinerator.
"May all our souls become perfect"
She said while rising the temperature to the maximum.
One last quick look at the open incinerator and she was upstairs.
"Here I am sister Lucy" said Abiga with a smile.
"Just in time dear, Father Carl is starting the ceremony, help me walk"
Sister Lucy was the oldest nun and Abiga was her favorite cane.
"Dear sisters, may our souls become
perfect as that of God"
Started the ceremony Father Carl
"Today we are gonna be grateful for
our church. Many months were
necessary to built it and many hands
worked on his wood."
Said Father Carl with solemnity in his
voice and open arms.
"I remember when this land was only a...FIRE!"
Said and then screamed the father.
The nuns then looked behind their backs.
High flames were now engulfing the wood entrance.
For an instant, just an instant, the crackling of the fire echoed in the silent capella. Then sister Mary screamed.
One after another, screams echoed in the little church.
Every soul started running towards
the stairs of the altar to distance themself from the fire.
Even sister Lucy was running, however, in a wood cage nothing can escape the fire.
That time everything burned down, between screams of pain and crushing wood.
Every soul sought a way to escape that tortured end.
Every soul except one, one soul was in the happiest moment of her life and died while praying.
"May our soul become perfect".
