𝐆𝐀𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐀'𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐕

I was making my way to the girl's bathroom. Just when I walked inside, a small bottle of pills rolled from one of the stalls. I grabbed and read 'Valproate'. Just when I was about to call for the girl in there, Maria walked out of the stall, with messed up mascara all over her face.

"Valproate?" I asked. She just snatched the bottle from my hands. "Maria, chill." I said. She began walking away. "Maria!" I called her once again and I followed her, but I found Marcus, standing right in front of the girl's bathroom.

"I got to talk to you." He said. "Get lost." I answered, looking around the hallway, for Maria. "Please." He insisted and I shoved him inside. "Chico." I said, leaning on the wall. "You started shit with Chico-" He interrupted me with "He was choking Maria." I nodded slowly and murmured "Maria."

I began walking away and said "Well, good luck with that, psycho." But then he said something, that caught my attention. "It's all bullshit. This stupid reputation." He looked around, to see if someone was around and lit his cigarette. He took a big puff and spoke up.

"When I was nine, my dad and my mom, they died right in front of me. Court sent me to a boys' home. The place was just a sweatshop. They...they tortured us, they..." He paused, looking at the ground.

"They-they did a lot of bad shit. I hurt some guards when I bailed, but I-I didn't kill those kids." He finished. "The newspaper, cops?" I asked. "They got it all wrong, and that's not the point. I'm not what you think I am. I'm not like you." He answered, pointing at me.

"Well, if it's all bullshit, then why did you come here?" I asked, felling the anger grow inside of me. "You told me to. You kissed me." He said and I interrupted him. "Dude, that was an assignment. Lin would have failed me if I didn't bring you back."

"You told me, I didn't have to be alone." Marcus said. "I didn't tell you to go start shit with the cartel." He interrupted with "I didn't know."

"Didn't know what? That the tatted-up vato was a legitimate killer, and not a theatre kid? Do you have any idea where you are?" I asked, looking deeply into his dark eyes. "That's why I'm asking for help." He said. "He's going to kill you." I answered.

He remained silent for a few seconds and spoke up again. "So what should I do?" He asked and I answered with "Only thing you can. Run." And with that I walked out of the bathroom.

I heard some people talking around the hallways, that Marcus and Chico are fighting outside, right this moment. I rushed between the crowds, until I saw Master Lin. "Gabriella, where's Marcus?"
"I'm looking for him, sir. People are saying he's fighting Chico outside." I said. "I heard that too, that's why I'm asking you. I thought I was clear, to keep him out of trouble." Master Lin hissed.

"I'm doing everything I can. I talked to him like two times, but he doesn't listen." We walked outside and I saw Chico, pinning Marcus to a wall and holding a knife to his throat. "Enough!" Master Lin yelled at the boys.

"Good. You're learning." Chico said, fixing Marcus' uniform. "Just a friendly spar with my new amigo. Get some rest Marcus. We'll finish this later." Chico spat and walked away with his crew. Marcus grabbed his backpack, looking at me and Master Lin and said "Fuck this place." And he walked away.

Master Lin has sent Willie to look for Marcus. I impatiently sat into my room, until a monk told me that Master Lin wanted to speak to me. I want to his office and knocked on the door. I went inside and asked "Am I done with the assignment?"

"Not yet." He quickly said, looking around pictures of the students, handing Marcus' picture towards me.

I walked up to the Graveyard for the party. I spotted Marcus, who was next to Maria, taking a sip from his drink. His eyes met mine and we just stared for a few seconds, until I decided to go to him. "Hey, you're back. What made you change your mind so quickly?" I asked, lighting up a cigarette.

"I just need a place to stay, you know? I'd rather sleep here, than at a random park." He answered.
"Yeah, right. Just don't try to get into trouble. At least for now." I said.

"I don't promise anything."
