The Foster sisters scanned over the list of candidates for the protection services. The two older sisters were mostly disinterested. They did not care about individual names. All they wanted was for enough women to join. The instructors had to train and indoctrinate the women to carry out the orders given by the sisters. But Rose focussed on the names. She had enjoyed the fights and could remember most of the names of the fighters who impressed her.
'What happened to the northern woman who fought in the no rules fight? Annamaria, if I remember correctly.'
'She returned north to be with her grandmother.' Ilona considered mentioning Annamaria appeared to be anti-revolutionary. But reporting to the Foster sisters stressed her, so she kept her inputs to a minimum.
'It's a shame. But the northerners are a different breed. They take a while to get used to change. I see we have many southern fighters on the list. Who is Christie? I do not remember her.'
'She fought against your northern fighter and broke her hand. She continued fighting until the doctor stopped the fight. When I lost the northern woman, I took the liberty of replacing her with a fighter I thought showed guts during the tournament.'
'We added specific women to this list for a reason.'
'I am sorry. Should I tell her she did not make the cut?'
'No, we may as well give her a chance. But it will be your duty to keep an eye on her. Any trouble, and you will get rid of her. None of these women can return to civilian life after their training has started.'
'I will make sure she toes the line.'
'Thank you. Leave us now. We have other matters to discuss.'
The sisters waited until Ilona closed the door behind her before they continued.
'I spoke to Michael today. He presented me with plans for the prison and the special wing. I approved them. He promised to hand over the keys to us within three months.' Emma used the term 'keys' loosely. They would keep the prisoners in prison by using laser beams. These would instantly kill any prisoner trying to escape. 'How are the tests going?'
'We have tested all the men. The results should be available within three days. The plan is to start testing women tomorrow.' Justine thought for a moment. 'What are we going to do with the women who already returned to the outposts? Shall I send my testing teams there?'
'No. We will give them a chance to move to Foster City later. Despite the tests, I am sure we will identify women in the city who are unsuited for our long-term goals. When we remove them, we will give others an opportunity to qualify for city life.'
The sisters were convinced their plans were all falling into place. The games had been an enormous success. It distracted the women from everyday life, and gave them something positive to talk about for a while. Nobody questioned the nomination of the name Foster City, or the legitimacy of the election, which saw it triumph as the chosen name to replace Dome City. The tests would identify the two-hundred most suited men to breed with the thousand most suited women in the city. These men and women would all have a combination of a high IQ, health and physical strength. The sisters were convinced this was the recipe to create a super race inside the city, while the inhabitants of the colonies would remain average. The city would start with a population of five-thousand women and two-hundred men. They would not allow the majority of the women to have children. The weakest women, and any women who did not conform to the new rules, would be forced out of the city, and replaced with strong women, who could defend the city against any attacks from outside. As the super race increased in numbers through the breeding programme, they would force more and more women out, until the city was inhabited by members of the super race only. The next step would be to create an ultra race by selecting only the best of the best to breed with each other.
