In a world so cold, a tale unfolds,
Of a little girl named Athena, her story untold,
Abandoned by parents, left with tears in her eyes,
She cried every day, as loneliness filled the skies.

Her clothes were tattered, her spirit brightly worn,
No food to nourish, no shelter to adorn,
All alone she wandered, through bustling streets,
A heart so heavy, no solace it meets.

She sought an orphanage, a place to belong,
But they turned her away, their hearts felt no song.
Rejected by kin, her mother's cruel choice,
Athena's dreams shattered, a silenced voice.

Visiting a friend, she glimpsed a warm abode,
Where laughter filled rooms, and love freely flowed.
In the bathroom she wept, unable to bear,
As the aroma of food hung heavy in the air.

She loved her father, oh, how deep was her love,
But fate was cruel, taking him above,
Athena  left in the care of a wicked stepmother,
Who showed no affection, no warmth, no bother.

One rainy day, when skies wept with pain,
The stepmother's cruelty reached a new terrain,
She threw little Athena out, like a discarded thing,
Left with her suitcase, no roof, no comforting.

With every raindrop, little Athena stood,
Her spirit resilient, her heart misunderstood,
Lost in the sea of strangers, in streets so wide,
Yet her strength remained, an unyielding tide

Tattered and torn, her existence forlorn,
Athena's life, from grace had been shorn.

In a boarding school, she was locked away,
Through the sky window, she gazed at night,
Counting the stars, curious in her plight.

Athena, a child, with questions profound,
Why was she here, in solitude bound?
No gifts on Christmas, Easter, or her birth,
Alone in this world, feeling little worth.

Her mother's absence, a painful divide,
Leaving Athena to wonder deep inside.
Tears on her cheeks, she'd wipe them away,
Dreaming of love that seemed far astray.

Her uncle, kind-hearted, saw her despair,
He offered her aid, his compassion aware.
With a bit of money, to buy her a meal,
So hunger wouldn't ravage, causing her to reel.

But despite this gesture, her soul still felt blue,
For happiness seemed elusive, a dream she couldn't pursue.
In the depths of her heart, sadness remained,
Athena's sorrow, no solace had gained.
