November came bitterly.

You haven't been able to sleep as much as you'd like. And not just because of your BoogieMan problem- but because of your boss.

You are an on-call employee. Lately she's been needing you more on-call than usual and you were starting to feel the toll.

Your bones ache, you chest felt heavier and you could barely stay awake if it wasn't because of coffee, tea or an energy drink.

You were the definition of tired. Thankfully you booked thanksgiving with months of anticipation and you couldn't wait for your 5 days of you time.

When you finally got home, you headed straight for a shower and to bed.

Well, tried to go to bed.

Your bed was currently compromised by a stern looking Eustass Kid.

"You haven't been sleeping."

"I have to be up when she needs me. I'm always on call- you know this."

"You need to sleep."

"No time to sleep."

"Not debatable. Sleep."

You felt a shiver run up your spine. It wasn't normal that Kid was this reactive to your unfortunate demise.

Once you conceded your defeat, you went to bed.

His bed, specially.

For fear of the BoogieMan was still gripping you from sleeping in your apartment sometimes.

The trek back to his apartment was met with an empty void. He had Killer do research while he rested and kept an eye on you.

Thankfully he was in just pajama pants and a Megadeth shirt that hugged his arms deliciously. The way the shirt showed his well kept happy trail when he stretched made you think of just raw-dogging him until you were spent and useless for a week and you'd still look for the energy to get plowed till next week.

Too bad you were too tired to ogle at him.

"Tell me a tale, demon." You whispered, now situated on his bed.

A silence was broken after five minutes and it was uncharacteristically soft the way his voice enveloped your ears.

"In the dark of the night, there was a demon."

You looked at him with almost child-like curiosity. The way his eyes looked at you almost seemed sad...or maybe bitter. The gaze he bore flicked from you to the ceiling as he continued with his story.

"The creature wasn't alone, he had his own people to entertain him- but he craved something more. It wasn't pleasure since he could obtain that anywhere he pleased. It wasn't money because he had plenty of it. He craved something new, something he could sink his teeth in so many times that no matter how many hours, days, months and years passed- he'd still be tempted to try it again and again." He whispered, the way you were looking at him was driving him mad for some reason. He saw a soft pout and big (E/C) eyes staring at him from the comfort of his bed.

"One day...when he went to hunt for his meal- he fell down a hole. He just fell until he found himself across someone who piqued his interest. It was a young woman, who seemed to also be craving for something more. The moment he came in contact with her...he was hooked." He huffed, looking at how the covers pooled around you as you sat up from your position to look at him better. "She looked so alive and brimming with all kinds of emotions. Like an all you can eat buffet but he didn't want to devour her completely, she just..."
