AN: this is what song inspired me to start writing this :0 a bit silly but I like it. also, I got really annoyed trying to learn it on the uke because I wanted to make a cover to put on here but I got upset and gave up :(

   I was in my room at 2 am and everyone else in the orphanage was getting yelled at. They had made a mess in the hall with paints covering the walls, and the head of the orphanage, Mrs. Brooker was screaming at them to start cleaning.

   Meanwhile I was playing my ukulele in my room, having no part of their business. I was just playing, thoughts scrambling through my head as I played, I was trying to drown out the noise of the yelling and after a while of playing, it suddenly did.

   I sang as I played, closing my eyes and it felt like I wasn't just drowning out the yelling. It felt like I was drowning out the world. It was just me and this song. When I opened my eyes, suddenly I was floating. I gasped and flopped hard back onto my bed and the yelling started back up again like it never stopped at all.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ONE WEEK LATER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   It was January 31, My 12th birthday. We didn't get presents from the orphanage, it was just a, "Congrats 6 more years before you get kicked out!", like it wasn't already Mrs. Brooker's daily reminder of my soon to be homelessness.
    But today was different; It felt weird. I got a letter in the mail, this never happened before. Cause it's not like anyone would actually write to orphans. One of my favourite nurses in the home gave it to me, Mrs. Trout. She is the only motherly figure in the entire orphanage. She is the only thing here that makes this place feel at all homely. It was weird though because why would Mrs. Trout give it to me?
   Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry? What's that?? Witchcraft? I thought back to what happened when I was playing the ukelele in my room. I read the letter:
Dear Mrs. Evans,
   We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Inside is a list of requirements that your teacher will help you acquire and tutor you to be able to enter as a 3rd year. School begins September 1st. In the meantime, wait for Professor Flitwick to arrive to start your studies.
Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall
   Two days later a man showed up to the orphanage and said he needed to speak to me. Everyone was skeptical on why, especially Mrs. Brooker, but Nurse Trout said it was alright. She and I walked out to the shortest man I had ever seen in my life; I mean I was pretty average height for a 12-year-old girl and this man must have been at least 3' something.
   "Hello my dear my name is Professor Flitwick" the man said awfully cheerful.
It just then hit me that this man was going to teach me magic.
 "If we could have Mrs. Trout, me and you in a more private room to discuss the work we will do?" he said, leaning the comment towards Mrs. Brooker.
"Oh, of course!" Mrs. Brooker stumbles over the words and the steps to the orphanage as she leads the three of us inside to one of the classrooms.
