Chapter 19: There is distance between us but I know you still yearn for me

Jungkook was bored.

Okay, being bored is not a bad thing. It's natural and I'm sure every single person on this whole planet has experienced this feeling. Hell, even animals and little kids have experienced this not-so-fun ordeal.

But what is actually wrong with Jungkook being bored is he's literally sitting in the courtroom right now where his fellow colleague was questioning his client about the 'murder in bar' incident. He's supposed to be serious and pay attention to the matter but here he is, sitting on his chair like he'll melt over the leather fabric at any second, lips formed into a lazy pout and eyes glued to the pen that he's whirling around his tattooed fingers.

And he has the fucking audacity to yawn where his client (the supposed murderer) is going nuts standing behind the wooden criminal court dock while his colleague questions the young guy one after one.

". . .and my lord, point to be noted. It was a crowded bar where the murder occurred. But we couldn't find a single person who's willing to be the witness. So I like to think that their mouth was either shut by money or fear. And I'm sure everyone presents here knows that our suspect here, Mr. Gim's father is a highly respected businessman. It's a piece of cake for people like them to spend some money and erase the evidence." Jungkook's colleague, another attorney who's combatting the case against him said with his head held high as he looks up at the judge who's sitting behind the wooden podium.

Jungkook looks over at his client who was already looking at him with fear and anxiety masking his face. Their eyes locked and the young lad signaled Jungkook with his eyes to do something.

Jungkook rolled his eyes and stood up.

"I'd like to object, my lord," Jungkook proclaimed as he walks out from behind the desk and steps forward until he was standing a few steps away beside his colleague.

"My dear colleague here has no right to accuse my client like this without any single evidence about the things he just said. Don't you think it's insulting my client by saying something like this without any valid information, my lord?" Jungkook stated, his voice rich and confident. Body posture straight as a ruler and head held high as he speaks to the judge with his hands shoved inside his pockets.

Jungkook looks at the other attorney and smirked seeing the faint glare coming from the man. He looks forward at the judge again, satisfied that he was able to shut his colleague's mouth.

"And as my fellow colleague, Mr. Cho mentioned, it was a crowded bar indeed but they still couldn't find a single witness who's willing to blame my client for the homicide. Which stands that, my client is, indisputably innocent, my lord. So I'd like to request Mr. Cho to not come to any conclusion just randomly. The court wants evidence, not assumptions." Jungkook finishes his speech as he smiles up at the judge cockily who nodded his head and wrote down something on the paper.

Jungkook slightly turned to his side and looks at his client. The boy, who was terrified just a second ago, smiled brightly at the blonde head, satisfied. Because his lawyer handled this situation quite smoothly and he has nothing to worry about if things keep going like this.

Jungkook's eyes then lock with Mr. Cho who was still glaring at him. The blonde head just smirked and winked at his colleague who immediately averted his gaze from the younger, annoyed.

"Do you have anything else to say, Mr. Cho?" The judge asked from his respected seat behind the podium. By looking at the judge it looks like he has aged quite a long way, he looks like he must be in his early 70s whereas Mr. Cho looks like he's in his early 30s.

"I'd like to borrow some time from the court, my lord. I have faith in myself and I know I will find someone who's brave enough to be the eye witness for the next trial." Mr. Cho requested with enthusiasm lacing through his tone. He sure does believe in himself and has high hope to win this case and defeat the unbeatable young attorney a.k.a Jeon Jungkook.
