The summer that changed me

Chapter 11

Today is the halloween party. My costume was from an iconic movie. A skirt, crop top, jacket. Simple but many should recognize the character. I wasn't the only one dressed like that, Leonor and Bernadette also joined me in the iconic character costume department, we all together went to the party. Again in the same neighborhood I was in. Though this time Samuel wasn't the host, one of his friend's were. The house was big, not like I was expecting anything small, there were many people outside of the house and it means there are way more inside, the music can be heard already. I am a bit nervous. I didn't talk with my boyfriend about going here and I don't know if he will be here but very likely he will be.

Once inside the first thing that happened was that we were offered drinks, we all declined them. Walked into the living room, the dance place, we joined the others. The music was good, so no complaining there. All three of us were dancing and will say we aren't the best but definitely can dance. Haven't spotted Samuel yet, not like I was really looking for him.

"This is great. I am glad we decided to come here." I said.

"Same here."

"Yeah."

It felt nice to dance and not worry about things, I wasn't drinking and so I was being responsible, my two friends were good girls as well but how long will that last, I have no idea. Eventually we got tired of dancing and decided to scavenge for something edible that isn't alcoholic or just nasty which hopefully there is something. Luck was on our side and we found some cookies that were good, water as well, not alcohol. We found that in the kitchen, sat down on the chair that were besides the dining table. Interesting enough, this place was fairly quite comparably to the rest of the inside of the house. I was able to recognize some students from my own classes or just school in general, some seemed to be absolute strangers to me.

We felt full and went back into the action, splitter up, I ended up in a circle of people where they were playing a game where someone had a card drawn and the person who's turn it was had to answer the question, if not drink or do a dare that the person asking or others think of. I will say it was fun. The questions I had received were alright, some had pretty bad ones.

"What's the strangest dream you ever had?" Someone asked me.

"I was in a zoo, but no animals, no people or so I thought, I was in the side of where the animals are and was displayed as a zoo display and people were looking at me just like we are looking at the animals at our zoos."

"Wow. What did you eat or drink or inhaled before going to sleep?" I shrugged. The next person was in questioning. It was for sure a fun game and later I decided it was time for me to go outside and get some fresh air and a bit less noisy background. Still plenty of people but way more quiet than the inside. No Leonor or Bernadette there, sadly. I sat down on a chair that was besides the pool, no one swimming. Some people were smoking, drinking, making out or just chilling like I was. The crispy air was nice for me, thankfully it wasn't super cold, so in the costume I wasn't freeze but also wasn't sweating like crazy. I closed my eyes and almost fell asleep. It was time for me to come back and try to find at least one of my friends. Bernadette was dancing and Leonor was in the same circle I played the game and I think they were still playing it. I joined Bernadette, Leonor spotted us and joined us too a bit later.

Things have been great in the party. No Samuel and I think it was a good thing, we were official in school, my aunt and uncle still don't know, his parents, I don't know if he told them or not. I think moving here made me more social and it is really good for me. The right people really do make a difference. I needed to socialize more and its been going on well. Even the occasional parties were no pain for me to go to. I only have been to two of them, including this one. Either way I like this.
