Hey hey, let's keep this going.

I remember when I was young. I had a Galaxy phone and it lit the color orange on the top right corner. I'd get so excited to see the bright orange light because it always meant there was a new chapter uploaded. The nostalgia of the author's notes was everything to me.

So as you can see, I'm having a lot of fun here. 7/12/23

Galens POV

"Daisy?"

She was golden. Her hair was braided with gold and silver entangled accents perfectly pulled up into a ponytail. Her brown eyes were glossy with shock. I'm sure my reaction was replicated the same. As if in proper Daisy fashion, she spreads her lips in a familiar and beautiful smile. Her lips were a deep orange complimenting the blush on her cheeks.

Warmth, her warmth was as familiar as her touch. Although we were 3 feet apart. I could feel years of depth between our invisible strings. I couldn't exactly get out of my instant shock as fast as her. My facial expressions reflect a sure mix of horror and guilt.

Bumping into her brought me a rush of emotions I was not expecting to experience on my morning coffee run. A hot latte with two sugars two creams and being cussed out by my high school crush. Funnily enough, she use to make me the perfect lattes that summer. I was not expecting to be reminded of a life so far past my present. This moment that sprouted a life never changed. That memorable last summer morning when we connected in breath and accepted our new beginnings. We knew that last summer day was the end of whatever we were. Could I have reached out in our college years? Sure. But I knew Daisy, she was dauntless, passionate, and most of all independent. My life was never and could never be as vibrant as hers.

I don't know what to say, should I smile, should I hug? No maybe a simple smirk. Yeah, I use to give a smirk that she once died for. Is that cringe? Yeah, that's cringe. I'm going to say "Sup Daisy, it's Daisy right? Sorry about that bump there" I'll show her a glimpse into the new Galen. With Italian shoes and a freshly ironed white button-up.

"Hey, I'm so sorry?" I croak in embarrassment.

My God man, what happened? My voice cracked and shook with little to no confidence.

"I can't believe you're in the city, wow who is this new lavish Galen? Slumming it with us, I never expected you to leave Florida! Let alone be a part of the rush of New York"

Okay ouch, brush it off son it's all good.

"Yeah, I know right? I kind of got a job with the Times, I've been overseeing the media and pop culture articles. Who would've thought it would bring me to the city?" I couldn't help but let go of what little breath I had. She was intimidating, although a few feet shorter than I was. It was as if she could see all of me. Well at least 18-year-old Galen, confused and lost and wondering what to do with my next steps after high school. Sure, I may have lied a little about the Times job. Well, I do work there, as an intern.

"You look so good, I'm so happy that you found something so perfect for you Galen!" She was killing me, even the way she said my name warmed the back of my neck and brought sweat in unfortunate places. Her simple presence was magnetic. I almost forgot my composure and felt a need to copy her giddiness.

Daisy quickly shifts to check her phone. Her spark was replaced with frown lines and worry. "Hey it was so lovely to see you again, but I'm so late for this interview." She backs away and looks at the cross-light sign. It's flashing a bright red hand, alarming me to say something. I need to act fast. She fills in the quietness before I could ask her a question"Do you know the best train to take to get me to Manhattan in like 10 minutes?". Desperate to not let this moment pass. "Yes take Broadway and you'll make it there in 7." Hope and gratefulness washes over her composure and she gives me a quick hug in response. She looks up at me in almost instant regret. The first time I'd seen her pristine composure break. "Thank you," she says rushing to wait at the crosswalk with the waves of people anticipating the light change. I run up to her knowing this is my only chance.

"Daisy wait!" I grab her hand, confident she can feel the dampness coating my shaky palms.

"I'm sorry Galen I really gotta go!" She looks back in confusion.

"Can I have your number?"
