CHAPTER ONE
new school, new start

IT'S ONLY HALF PAST "too early to be up"–o'clock when Jisung jolts awake, the sun blaring into his eyes and chilly air blasting through his dilapidated windows—unsteadily clinging to flimsy wood blocks.

      He wakes up to chaos.

Resounding crashing noises blare throughout eight-AM District 9 and cause his home to shake violently (so violently, he can barely maintain balance when he stands up from his bed).

Typical District 9, Jisung thinks, lifting his arms straight by his ears to stretch them out whilst groaning loudly. It would be a miracle from the gods above for Jisung to get even one good night's rest ever since moving to Pixus Isle (more specifically: District 9).

It's too damn bad that Jisung's expulsions from everywhere nearby his hometown has landed him on foreign terrain many miles away from where he used to live.

It's not as if District 9 is anywhere even remotely half-decent in regard to living conditions.

After pouring her funds into multiple magic schools, Jisung's mother couldn't afford to live anywhere else — anywhere nicer (like Keith Hook or anywhere off the Isle).

District 9's price tag surely matches up with its living conditions. Most of the houses are terribly run-down, with rowdy dragons that know nothing outside of wreaking havoc on anything in their way.

Definitely a change in comparison to the 'middle class'-esque living he enjoyed back in his hometown.

Jisung has a few more hours before he has to fly into Diablos: School of Magic for his first day, so he figures that he should try to ignore the thunderous crashing noises and get some well-deserved shuteye.

With a tired groan, Jisung slips back into bed and underneath his covers, letting his eyes fall shut.

      CRASH!

Jisung really wishes that rowdy dragon's owner would just take care of that God-forsaken noise

His train of thought is promptly cut off by his mother's distraught screaming: "Iris! Irisun!"

Fuck. He's that rowdy dragon's owner.

With an unfathomable speed, Jisung slips out of bed, panic consuming his body whole. He quickly slides his feet into beaten-up fuzzy slippers that clack loudly with each step he takes as he sprints out of his house.

Jisung's been aware of his dragon's brazen nature ever since she was introduced to the Han household by his father. However, he would've never predicted Iris going out and stirring up chaos just for the fun of it.
