School. A place of despair, dictators posing as teachers, and nasty food. I would kill whoever invented school in a heartbeat but unfortunately, I don't know who invented school, I can't time travel. So until some scientist cracks the secret of travel through time and space, I'm stuck in the back of Ms. Griggs' grade ten math class.

Although I hated every particle of her. I have to give Ms. Griggs credit for being able to talk non-stop for fifty minutes. She just drones on and on and sends students into the abyss of boredom. I, however, was actually making an attempt to learn. My dad gave me the biggest lecture ever the night before after he saw my report card. Unfortunately, I was only passing one class and my dad only cares about three classes: Math, science, and technology. So of course I would be getting a 90% in drama.

Ms. Griggs continued her lecture on what sin, cosine, and tangent were while I tried to keep up. She talked way too fast and didn't give me enough time to copy so I just gave up and began doodling. I doodled a crude picture of her yelling at our class but I guess she must have seen me because she was now hovering over my desk.

"Mr. Kendrick." She said, in her best upset teacher voice. "Could you kindly go to the board and answer the question?"

I nervously shuffled my feet. "Do I have to?"

"Yes. Now get up there and start solving."

She shoved the whiteboard marker into my hands and got me standing. I awkwardly made my way to the front of the class, pretending to ignore the giggling of my fellow classmates (I hate every one of them). I scribbled a few numbers on the board but I had no idea what I was doing. Luckily, the phone in the corner of the class room rang at that very moment. Ms. Griggs answered the phone and called me to take it, apparently, it was for me.

"Hello?" I spoke into the receiver. "Okay. Oh wow. Alright. That big? Sounds pretty bad. Sure, I'll tell her. Okay, bye." I looked up at Ms. Griggs triumphantly who was trying to interpret my side of the phone call. "So Sorry, Ms. Griggs. Terrible accident at my dad's factory. I gotta go like, right now."

I ran to my desk, got my bag, and got out of the class before Ms. Griggs could say a word. A second longer and she would get suspicious and my "get out of jail free card" would have been completely wasted. I exited the building through the side entrance and began to walk to the parking lot but I didn't make it more than two steps before someone came bolting around the corner and ran straight into me. I was knocked down to the ground and the girl had fallen right on top of me.

"Ow." I grunted. "At least buy me dinner first"

The girl looked at me and scoffed with annoyance. She pushed against my chest to get herself up which was pretty rude and painful if you ask me. She stood at full height which was just a little shorter than me and I got a good look at her. She had auburn hair with blonde streaks through it. Her eyes were a bright brown and had a couple of freckles dotted across her face. She was actually really pretty so I did what any teenage boy would have done. I told her how beautiful she looked and how much I'd like to get to know her. However, I never said any of this out loud but instead said it all in my head while staring at her like an idiot.

"Can I help you?" She asked, sounding a little creeped out.

"Oh, yeah." Way to mess up idiot. "You mind helping me up? You were the one that ran into me."

I extended my hand to her and she looked at me as if I was going to poison her any moment. After a second or two, she reluctantly extended her hand and held onto mine. I let go instantly because the moment our hands made contact, I got the biggest static shock of my life, strong enough to feel like I'd just grabbed a live wire. I guess she must have gotten the shock too because she was gripping her hand and cursing under her breath. We looked up at each other and I smiled and she did the exact opposite. She pushed me up against a wall with her arm over my neck and death in her eyes.
