Agápē (ἀγάπη): a sacrificial love, an unconditional, unseen love that a human feels for God.

It was warm, but not in an uncomfortable muddy way, but a soothing one, the type of warmth you'd get from a childhood blanket, or a cup of tea in the fall.
The Auditor had missed this warmth, it had been too long since she was allowed to return home, as it had been particularly rough in the overworld. Nevada was always a mess, but now it had gotten to be neigh unmanageable.
His shadowy form slinked over the smooth gray tile that made up her sister, the conductor's, workspace. Connie, as she was called by her siblings, had called a meeting, and meetings always took place in her realm. It was a harsh place, made of tile, concrete, and the inner workings of a machine. It looked as if a nightmarish factory and a modern office had smashed into eachother, and the auditor hated it.He sulked until he came across a large arching door- the door to Connie's office. The auditor was running late, mostly out of stubbornness, and she wasn't looking forward to the earful he was about to get. Nevertheless he pushed the door open and glided inside.
Connie's office was strange- as was her realm. It was a non-Euclidean space, floating somewhere between time and space, right next to the machine that governed all of Nevada. Ironic, since their jobs meant it was necessary they remain unknown to the machine, less they be dragged into it, and into the madness that was the mortal world. And despite that they were seemingly right next door; the jarring thing itself visible from the large window in Connie's office. It was the first thing the auditor saw as she walked in, and it sent a chill down her shapeless form. The twisting piping and churning metal gears of it always made her uncomfortable. It was strange seeing the very thing that wrote the lives of everyone in Nevada. Everyone had a role to play, and the machine wrote that role.
The only exception were the employers, untouched by the machine, though they too had roles. The conductor had the simple, yet difficult, task of making sure the machine ran smoothly. Any loose screws, rusty gears, and the conductor would see to it. She was in charge of the other employers in the same way, making sure they did as they were told. Speaking of Connie, she was sitting at her desk, glaring down the auditor as he glided in, head hung low to avoid her gaze.
Oh yeah, he was definitely getting lectured, he thought as he sat himself down on one of the plush leather sofas facing the desk. His sister Stygian was also here, lounging on the furniture like she hadn't a care in the world.
Stygian was always a pain to the auditor, a thorn in his side, a total bitch. And Styx as they called her, took pride in that."You're Late" she purred, pink eyes slanted in a smile.
"I know I'm late" The auditor growled back, sinking further into his chair. Styx was in charge of the dead. Simple as that. Her job was to make sure people died and stayed dead- and she was damn good at it too. The only exception being a grunt named Hank- a fuck up the auditor loved to remind his sister of.
