I've started wearing gold
So I could get my mind off you.
My palaces of gold
Still have silver lining too
They remind me of the clouds
On the stormy days with you.
I wore the silver jewelry
That I didn't have much of.
It didn't match my skin tone,
Just the way you said my name.
I wanted all the sun rays
But you wouldn't show me gold,
Just the dullness of a promise
And a chain around my throat.
I try to scrape the paper off
But I think it's glued down well.
I'm trying to get this house ready
To put back on the shelf,
But these halls hold memories
The heart can not hold on to.
I still have my silver jewelry,
But it doesn't go with anything I own.
