Everyone flinched slightly as the door creaked open, and heavily squinted as light illuminated the room. Letting their eyes adjust, they surveyed the area. Liam groans slightly as he spots a large group of walkers roaming around in the direction they need to head.
"FREEDOM!!" Louis yells, throwing his arms up in the air, thankful for being out of the stuffy building.
"Shhhh!!" Harry and Liam harshly whisper, "You'll alert them."
"Sorry," Louis responds with a sheepish smile.
"H-How would we g-get through that?" Niall asks, looking at Liam who has now opened the map to find an alternate route.
"I don't know Lou," He sighs, looking up from the map. "There are too many for us to handle as a group, we would be overpowered easily."
Niall looks around, mentally noting all of the rooftops nearby. He tugs on Harry's sleeve, making the taller lad look down.
"W-We could j-jump?" Niall whispers, pointing at the rooftops ahead. Harry's eyes widen, before shaking his head.
"We couldn't, it could be dangerous Ni." Harry says, but captures the attention of the other two lads.
"What's up?" Louis questions, crossing his arms over his chest, similar to how a mother would when interrogating her child.
"Niall suggests we could jump from rooftop to rooftop." Harry murmurs. His eyes widen once more when Louis comes up and claps Niall on the back.
"Great idea lad!"
"It may be a bit far of a jump though," Liam's voice of reason pipes in, looking hesitantly over the edge.
All he could see down there was the cracked pavement and a dump bin.
'At least there is somewhere to land should we fall.' He thinks to himself.
A moment of silence passes through the group before Louis pipes up again.
"Alright, considering we don't have a second option, we should follow through with it, it is the only idea we have at the--"
Louis is cut off by a loud bang from underneath the group, making all four of them jump.
"W-What was t-that?" Niall whispers, subconsciously edging closer to Harry for safety.
"I... I don't know." Harry responds, his eyes glued to the metal door they had just come through.
The group stands still for a moment, analyzing their environment.
"Louis you idiot!! They heard you!" Liam exclaims, who is quick to be shushed by his boyfriend.
"Can you hear that?" Louis whispers, straining his ears in the hopes of hearing what he heard again while Liam was talking.
The group falls silent, hoping to hear what Louis heard.
Sure enough, ten seconds later, quiet groans could be heard from the ground below.
"Infected can't climb, can they?" Liam asks his boyfriend, who nods grimly in response.
"It depends on the stage of the infection, but all stages are able to. Walkers are the ones who are the most likely to climb."
"Shit," Is all Harry says as the noises get closer and louder.
"If we want to do something, we had better go now, otherwise we'll be breakfast," Louis says, leading the group to the edge.
Niall gulps slightly, regretting his initial decision to bring this idea up in the first place.
"W-Who wants t-to go first?" Niall questions, looking at the other three.
