Chapter 2

Kem always has her way with everything. I hissed to myself, irritated.

"Fine, I'll call him," I said with a fake smile.

She giggled excitedly and walked into the bathroom casually.
I picked up my phone and called him

"Hello, Kate?" Kelvin asked as soon as he picked up the phone.
I guess he was not expecting me to call him so soon.

"Yeah it's me. I'm going to a party tonight, would you like to come?" I asked him.

"Alone?" he asked me.
Did he want to spend time alone with me or was he expecting Kem to come along?

"Kem is coming too," I said, hoping that this would change his mind or influence not to come.

"Sure, I will come," he agreed without wasting any time.

"You can pick us up by six," I told him.

It seemed like he had feelings for Kem. I wanted him to say no but he agreed without a second thought.

Kem came out of the bathroom as soon as I ended the call.
"So is he coming?" she asked excitedly.

"Yes, he will be here by six," I replied irritated.

She looked so excited at the prospect of Kelvin coming with us.

Kem laid on the bed and picked up her phone to watch a movie as we waited for Kelvin to get here.

I laid down beside Kem on the bed and closed my eyes.
I could hear a song playing in my head as I drifted off into the darkness.

"I had a dream
I got everything I wanted,

It might've been a nightmare

So I stepped off the Golden, mm

Nobody even noticed

But when I woke up, I see

The song faded away as I woke up.
I opened my eyes and turned my head to see Kelvin.
I closed my eyes immediately, this can't be real.

He was so close, I could feel his heartbeat.

My head was resting on his chest, and he used his thumb to caress my cheeks.

When I opened my eyes again, I could see him staring at me.
He was looking at me a strangely, he has never looked at me with that much emotions before.

I tried to get up and he let go of me. I looked around trying to find Kem.

But she was not there, she was beside me when I fell asleep, I thought in confusion. Where could she have gone?

I looked back at Kelvin.
Wait what?
I yelled in my head, Kem and Kelvin were making out beside me on the bed.
I wasn't the least bothered by how she got there.
All I wanted to do was tear them apart.

They suddenly stopped kissing, looked at me, and they burst into hysterical laughter.

I woke up with a start.
It was just a dream but it had felt so real, my head was still beating rapidly.

I sat up and checked my phone for the time.

it was almost five o'clock. I looked at my side, Kem was not on the bed.

I stood up and stretched my limbs. I smiled satisfied as I heard the pop from my back.

I picked up my phone from the bed and strode into the living room. I guessed Kem would be there and I was right.

She was watching a sappy romcom while eating from a bowl of popcorn.
She looked ready for the party.
She wore a leather jacket and a miniskirt so short it revealed her long legs
Her blonde hair fell freely over her shoulders and she looked beautiful.

My thoughts were cut short, when she caught me staring at her.

"Kate it's almost time, go get ready. You know we don't want to keep Kelvin waiting," she said as she turned back to continue watching her movie.


I sighed heavily and turned around to go back to the room.
I entered the room and walked into the bathroom. I stripped naked and stood in front of my full length mirror.

I could see the marks Kelvin had left on my body. I guess Kem did not notice.
Memories of last night flooded back as I remembered the kiss.
The way he caressed my cheeks, the way he touched me, the way he easily bit my lips while kissing me.

His kisses had mended my broken heart immediately.
I touched my lips and stared at myself for a moment.
I looked sharply away from the mirror and went into the shower.


Once I was done, I walked back to the room with my hair dripping wet and my blue towel wrapped around me.
I picked up the dress Kem had picked out for me, and wore it.
By the time I was done, it was six.

I picked up my purse from the table and did a last minute check to make sure I had all my essentials.

Once I was good to go I walked towards the front door, where Kem was waiting for me.

Kelvin's car drove into my driveway, he was exactly on time.

Kem so excited she was practically shaking.
Kelvin unlocked the car from within and Kem hurriedly got into the front seat. I sighed deeply as I opened the car door and slid into the backseat.

This was going to be a long night.

"Hey Kelvin." Kem said sweetly.
"How have you been?" He replied with a slight smile that turned my stomach.
"I've been good." Kem replied beaming.

"So where are we headed?" Kelvin asked.

I was about to reply when Kem started writing down the address on the GPS.
I sighed and plugged in my earphones.  I was silent throughout the ride while  Kem kept on blabbering on and on.

We got to the party a bit early. The house seemed nice but I couldn't shake the bad feeling I had in my chest.
