AMARIA AVAIA HART 10:36 AM HOME
I felt the vacant space on the bed next to me sink causing my body to droop in their direction. Thinking it's my mom feeling cuddly, I ignore it and start to drift off to sleep again. That is until the person begins running their hands up and down my sides.
A series of small pecks going from my cleavage to my neck causes me to giggle and attempt to push them away. "Stop, I'm trying to sleep," I whine trying to roll over away from the person.
"We gotta get up Mari." A familiar voice responds to me. Where have I heard that voice before?
"Mari" He tries again, a little louder than his previous gentle tone. He leans towards me and I push his head back, feeling a mass of curly hair that makes my stomach drop.
"Mari get your ass up!" The voice morphs into my mother's and I shoot out of bed frantically searching my room. Did I just dream about this boy? That ain't nothing but the devil.
"What the actual fuck." I sit on my bed in disbelief. My brain scatters for an explanation for the weird experience I just witnessed.
I look to my room door and see my mom staring back at me with an incredulous look on her face.
"Girl, it's already 4:50. You have an hour to get ready." She pushes herself off of the doorframe and disappears down the hallway. I grab my phone off my nightstand and squint at the harsh brightness of the screen. When I read the date on the top of the phone I groan.
Tampa High School's senior sunrise is an event that I've been looking forward to since freshman year. I just wish the sun rose a little bit later.
I unplug my phone and open Instagram as I make my way to my bathroom. I mindlessly tap through Instagram stories as I brush my teeth. I stop at a story posted by Evander. In the video, Van throws up a peace sign, then turns the camera to a sweaty tino who throws up some sort of gang sign before shaking his damp curls.
"Lord have mercy." I sigh and spit the toothpaste into the sink, followed by shaking water in my mouth.
I turn the shower knob to my usual setting and I wait until fog begins to emit from the shower. While I wait, I pull out my skincare from my skincare fridge and set my cleanser on the shower shelf. I then step into the shower and sigh at the feeling of the warm water cascading down my skin.
I squirt my vanilla-scented body wash onto my loofah and scrub the suds all over my body before rinsing and repeating two more times. I follow after with my vanilla sugar body scrub and rinse off the mixture. Damn, I smell goooood.
I squirt a healthy amount of Low pH Good Morning Cleanser onto my damp hands and later the face wash on my face. The tingly sensation of the tea tree oil in the cleanser wakes my skin up. I step under the shower head to wash off the cleanser and turn the knob when I finish.
