Halloween was a just an excuse to drink and dress inappropriately, Elizabeth thought as she sat at the bar. She felt uncomfortable in her costume, feeling that Black Widow, the assassin from Marvel comics, did not necessarily suit her personality. She had the hair, but definitely not the confidence. It wasn't really her choice; Scarlett had chosen her outfit, being that it was her party. Elizabeth thought it was the least she could do for her roommate.

The room was sticky and uncomfortable, yet she remained. She was waiting for someone. A certain person who had only just recently taken the test that would determine his future. A certain person who she had become infatuated with over the summertime. A certain person who could make everything better with just a thought.

"Hey there," Sam commented, wrapping his arms around her torso. He kissed her neck softly, smiling into her skin. "What have you been doing?"

"Waiting for you," Elizabeth replied, smiling. She turned to him to see his face in full, which was unreadable. She wouldn't ask, she decided. He should have to tell her. "How are you?"

He hesitated, messing with her hands as they interlocked. "Oh, you know..." He stopped mid-sentence, greeting one of his friends. He kept his hands on her at all times in some way, seemingly overprotective. Elizabeth noticed he would do that to intimidate people.

"So," she began, poking his stomach. "Tell me how you did." She gave into her desire for information. She couldn't wait any longer.

"Well," he grinned, "I didn't fail."

Her heart stopped for a second before she asked, "Samuel Winchester, did you pass your LSATs?"

He nodded, pride clear on his face. They embraced then, feeling mutually happy. They'd worked so hard and for such a long while, and they realized that it paid off. That they'd paid off. What they had, whatever they had, they knew it would be so much easier than preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime. They knew, if they could make it through this, they could find some way to organize a trial, even if Sam would not be the lawyer on case. They could find some way for it all to pay off.

Together or not at all.
