Sae had a perfect life. He had 2 financially stable and happily married parents, he had amazing talent in football and had clear goals for the future, he had a caring brother who would support him every step of his way, and he had his whole future taken care of.
So why was he so unhappy?
He had no reason to be unhappy, but he just was. He thought he was being selfish at first, not appreciating the amount of work his parents had put in to make sure all his football expenses were covered and that it would be smooth sailing.
Sae insisted that they would stop putting in so much time for him. He was 19 now and financially stable enough to continue his career, and part of him didn't think he deserved his parents hard work.
He felt bad for Rin sometimes. It was very clear who the favourite child was, and they weren't trying to hide it at all. He sometimes re assured Rin that he's doing very well at football and that he should keep it up, but ever since Sae came back from Madrid, their relationship has been kind of rocky, and Sae only had himself to blame.
He sort of felt like he had to be there for Rin, since they were family and all, but ever since the gruelling training with Madrid, he just could't be asked sometimes. And it was the truth.
Life was just so boring to Sae.
He shared a dorm with Rin on campus, but Rin had been saying for months that he would move out. Not because of anything against Sae, just because he felt like there was only so much personal life he could share with him. Like Sae didn't need to know every person Rin brought back to their dorm, and her certainly didn't need to hear them either...
"Hey," Rin spoke, opening Sae's bedroom door and pearing in. "You ok?"
"Enough," he muttered, sitting up properly in his bed. "What's up?"
"Bachira is hosting a party tonight. His dorm 10pm. You up for it?"
Realistically, he wasn't. Sae was never a party type of guy. He was the guy who would be in his sitting on the couch on a Saturday, stone cold sober whist everyone would be drunk out of their minds, and he would be scrolling through everyone's insta stories, watching everyone else have fun and feel nothing.
But something inside him almost felt sorry for himself. Why was he letting himself be so down? Why wouldn't he make an effort? He sighed.
"Sure." He nodded, and Rin's eyebrows raised. Sae rolled his eyes. "You don't need to act so surprised."
Rin just shrugged. "I was fully expecting you to say no, but ok." Rin instead of leaving let himself into Sae's room, shutting the door behind him and making himself comfortable on his bed.
"I'm gonna try do shit this summer," He said, almost as if he was convincing himself. "rather than just watching you all have fun."
"Fair enough." Rin smiled, then it turned to a smirk. "You drinking?"
Sae hadn't thought about that, but it didn't take him long to come up with a conclusion. "Might as well. I'm going out for a reason."
Rin almost felt relieved, seeing his brother actually live a little. To be completely honest he started to get a bit worried for him. But that worry left his shoulder a bit after he accepted to go with him.
"Oh by the way," Rin pulled out his phone from his pocket. "have you heard the rumour?"
"Rumour?" This intrigued Sae. "What rumour?"
"Someone new joined this year."
Sae blinked. "What does that even mean?"
Rin scoffed, and continued to scroll though his phone. "Like he joined our collage, but from the summer. So he's in the dorms right now, apparently."
