The next morning
8:00 am

The sound of Sae's alarm echoed throughout his bedroom, and it took ever ounce of his being not to snooze it and roll back over. He sighed, picking up his phone to turn off the ringing noise.

8:00 am, he whispered to himself

It was summer, but Sae always loved having a routine. It made the winter slightly easier, since he was used to waking up sort of early. 

Phone in hand, and squinting at the brightness, he swiped up on his Do Not Disturb to check what he's missed.

Sae rolled his eyes, but as he continued to scroll, he realised something.

Shidou hadn't sent him anything. Not yesterday evening. Not today.

This confused Sae. Shidou would love to talk to himself in Sae's DMs, saying stuff like 'just ate the most orgasmic burger,' or like 'goodnight princess, don't forget to moisturise'. Stuff that Sae would never reply to. Not like he cared if Shidou messaged him, he was just curious about the change in attitude. Maybe he was too harsh on him?

He didn't ponder on it for long, and just left his phone on his bed and got up. He made his way to his bathroom to do his usual morning routine. Shower, skincare, change of clothes, and he was out.

Going back to the side of his bed to pick up his phone, he caught himself swiping up again looking for Shidou's notification. 

Sae what are you doing, he thought, placing his phone in his pocket to stop himself from checking for his notification.

He left his bedroom and walked down the hallway into the kitchen. He didn't eat dinner yesterday, so he was especially hungry this morning. He opened the fridge looking for ingredients, and picked out 2 eggs, an avocado, salmon and cream cheese. Placing them all on the counter, he then went to go grab a bagel from the cupboard.

He got to work, cracking the eggs on the pan and leaving it on the stove, then placing the bagels in the toaster to toast. 

Whilst these were cooking, he subconsciously took out his phone to check for Shidou's notification. He audibly sighed when he once again saw nothing. He shoved the phone in the pocket of his sweatpants and continued to watch his eggs.

Once they were cooked, he pulled the bagels out of the toaster, plated them and placed some sliced avocado, cream cheese and some smoked salmon atop, finished off with the fried eggs. He placed all the pans and dishes used to make his breakfast in the sink, and sat down to dig in.

He pulled out a chair from his island and placed his breakfast in front of him. With one hand, he lifted his stuffed bagel to his mouth, and swiped through TikTok with his other. He took a bite, satisfied with the taste, and as he was chewing, he swiped down on his Do Not Disturb, hoping to see Shidou's notification.

Now he was starting to piss himself off.

He shut off his phone and slid it across the island, with a bit too much force than intended because it was inches away from sliding off the island and crashing to the floor. He didn't realise how much Shidou affected him. He swore if he looked for his damn notification again he'd smash his phone with a kitchen knife.

Sae sighed in defeat, finishing off his breakfast as quick as he could. He walked round, placing the dishes in the sink, and picked up his phone back up and placed it in the pocket of his sweat pants.
