"I'm not surprised they chose to attack without delay." Queen Luna says.

After the complete perimeter was secured and no other ennemies were in sight or in Mind fairies radar reach, Silva took me into the barracks and down in the War Room where he called Dowling and Queen Luna to report the agression. Riven and June were called too to give their testimony but June exited quickly the room as she was not part of the administration of the school nor of the Solarian Army.

Alfea Headmasters, except for Harvey who is supervising the Main Building, are gathered around a table showcasing above it Queen Luna's hologram. The General Selvarajah is also taking part of the crisis management meeting on speaker. Riven is paying attention to every word they say, standing a few steps behind them, conscious he only has a say in the matter when given to him.

I'm sitting on the dusty couch lining up a wall. This room hadn't been used in years. Everything is covered in mold and reeks, but I don't care if spiders are climbing up my new pants, all I can think off is the slick sound of my blades cutting through the air and then the flesh. It was like I felt it, as if my fingers tips or rather my sharp nails ripped her skin open. I hope it was just an impression and not a new affinity I got with metal... I concentrated so much on not letting my blades close to skin these past months... After nearly killing Jaxton, I developed an irrational fear of loosing control, restraining every move, every pulsion. And tonight, I let it loose...

"You saved my life", Silva told me afterwards to calme me down. I killed someone but I saved someone so the equilibrium is fine? Is it how terrible people live with the awful things they have done? Tries to find the good outcome out of the bad decisions they took?

"We were prepared...," says Silva, getting me out of my head. "But their magic is extremely dangerous, even for those who don't have power like us. There were only two of them for two of us, and even though they were not train to combat, they are hard to take down."

Take down. I know Silva is weighting his words for my personal sake. When he lifted me up the ground after killing the witch, I was a shaking doll, nothing more. I killed someone. First kill, and I'm so afraid of the many more coming my way when going to Polaris.

"We need to find a way to counter them—" Dowling starts before being interrupted by their leader :

"Looks like you already have it."

The Headmasters turn their head to me and stare at me for an instant. So now I'm a "it"?

"I meant at a larger scale." Farah clarified. "It's the whole Army, yet the whole population of Solaria that should be able to protect themselves."

"Extermination is our only option." The Queen says coldly.

A terrifying silence settles in the room. Her majesty's subjects may be loyal to her, they don't always understand her line of reasoning.

"What did August tonight is unprecedented, she does not control it yet..." Dowling tries.

"But she will, just like her father. Is it not the reason she is here, in Alfea?"

Farah and Silva are avoiding the hologram's eyes. Queen Luna just recalled them where they failed at, how I failed them.

I am not my father, I want to yell.

He was strong and courageous, and I'm... lost. God, I miss the days when my only worries were to train alone in the woods!

"Speed it up!" Queen Luna says. "Departure for Polaris is only a few days away. Three battalions are on their way to Alfea to take over the protection of the school."
