"Hey mom I'm home!"
"Oh Viva come, come sit please. So tell me everything, how was your first day, oh how were Lizzy and Gianna, did you find all your classes? Did you fail the first test, Oh!-
"Well hello to you to mom" I said being a little to irritated rushing me to tell her my full story of my first day of school.
"Hm, I'm sorry munchkin I've just been stressing the whole day anxious to know about your first day as a privileged official junior." She says smiling creepily
"You know all I have to say literally it's the same crap mom, although I'm kind of weirdly excited about this school year. oh and yes, Gianna and Lizzy are great. Not to mention they were wondering if I had disappeared all Summer because a luny mom took away my phone." I said
"Ha-ha, watch it missy I did it for the sake of our mother-daughter vacay ok, now I did find it or so I thought I did but I must've misplaced it again, oops!"
"Oh co'mon now!" I said somewhat annoyed and upset. "Never trust your mother with your precious items, note to self."
"Dinners in 20!" She yelled as she walked inside the kitchen. "See yaaaa!"
Well what should I use now to contact friends and stream on social media, a telegram. Making my way to my bedroom I find my inner zen, yes I might have taken yoga. I take in the beauty of the blue glistening ocean. I notice kids running around whining to their parents, teens playing a horrible game of volleyball yikes! Food and merchandise stands ready to close up, but just the serenity of the ocean makes me want to jump in there and let it take me.
And right into the moment my mom decides to scare the living shit out of me. "Hey! Found it heard it beeping inside one of the cabinets. The one with the spices haha,""Jesus mom don't do that!" I said with a heartbeat racing unlike the average heartbeat should beat.
"Viva close the window you're going to catch a cold sweetie. How many time have I told you." she says closing the window.
"Ahhh great thank you momma, now if you please may go check whatever is burning downstairs." I said chuckling
"Ugh crap! I guess we'll be having burnt chicken charcoal."
"Yum." I said laughing
"I think we should order take-out. I'll call!" Mom said
"I'll be down in as sec." I said
"Right you betcha" she said leaving
It wasn't a silent awkward type of thing my mom and I did while we ate, it was normal for us not to talk. Sitting on the couch with our feet propped on the coffee table watching repeated episodes of Gossip Girl and eating Chinese food I decided to break the silence.
"So. You um never heard from dad while we went on vacation."
"You know I hate how Blair can act like a bitch but happens to fascinate me how we act exactly the same haha. Don't cha think? Huh." She said ignoring my question.
It's pretty much questions about my father my mom dodges bullets and changes the subject and I let it go. Oh but not this time.
"Mom you didn't answer my question. Has dad been contacting you?
"Oh Viva would you let it go. Your father step foot of this house six years ago and "No" he hasn't contacted me ever since."
"Not even to know how we're doing cause I sure as hell no for even the slightest he sent a hello!" I said getting angry that she doesn't care.
" Viva let's have a decent dinner at our first night home since the our vacation please. Why would you even bring this up anyways? Drop it!" She said raising her voice.
My mom has always been the strongest person I've ever known and it might sound cliche because I'm her daughter and that's what you're supposed to think of you mother. But literally my mom has put up with a shitload of problems that I would believe is motherly impossible. Since my father left, I was only nine or ten at the time and I was left with the curiosity sitting on me like a weight of bricks as to why my father left. Just last year I found out they never filed for divorced. They were perfect for each other, they never had problems, they never fought. Or so I thought because it was this one night were its vaguely stuck into my memory. I remember bits and pieces. My father came home in a rush, and I saw worry plastered on my mothers face, she knew what was happening. I don't know if I should ask her or confront her as to what happened that night. My dad and I had a close relationship and I can gladly recall some precious memories. The day at Seaworld, the trips to the park and ice cream parlor, and the amazing times at the beach where he taught me how to surfboard, bodysurf, and swim. Why did my father leave? Was he gone forever?
"Ok you know what um I'm sorry I brought it up. You're right I shouldn't have. Goodnight." I quickly rushed upstairs slightly embarrassed.
After our lovely dinner I brushed my teeth and laid down exhausted thinking "what a night." As I laid in bed I checked my phone one last time and BOOM! a notification caught my mind. It was a friend request from that boy Cameron from my English class. Obviously I accepted and decided to stalk his profile page. Holy shit! This guy is a freakin' Calvin Klein model, over three thousand followers, and ten he is following and out of the ten he follows me. Wow! I can feel my face is literally burning from the excitement. This is unbelievable.
I can't wait for school.
