THOR AND ASTRID RAN TOWARD THE DETENTION SECTOR OF THE HELICARRIER WHERE LOKI RESIDED. The two blond gods enter the holding area to see Loki escaping his glass cage.
Thor yelled out. "No!" Thor charged at his brother as Loki crouched, ready to attack. Astrid narrowed her eyes at the scene. Loki is usual not happy to be attacked by Thor without being ready, she pondered.
She gasped as realisation sunk in. "Thor, stop!" She shouted, reaching her hand out and chasing after him. "He's not real."
But it was too late. Thor had fazed through the apparition of the fake Loki and fall into the empty glass cage, which closes immediately once Thor had entered. Thor pounded on the glass as Astrid placed her hands on the glass, racking her brain for a quick solution to remove her friend from his situation.
But before she could do anything, a hand wrapped itself around her throat from behind. Her arms were pinned behind her back as Loki lowly chuckled into her ear, sending a shiver to run down her back.
"Stop!" Thor shouted, continuing to pound on the glass. Desperate to help his friend from his adopted brother's clutches.
Loki smiled at the scene before him. "Are you ever not going to fall for that?" Loki asked, referring to his illusions. A guard entered with a gun, his eyes black. No doubt due to Loki's enchantment.
In a fit of rage, Thor slammed Mjölnir into the glass cell. To everyone's surprise, the cell door only cracked, but the godly force shook the ship violently.
Loki's grip on Astrid's throat tightened slightly as he grew more cautious. The humans think is immortal." Loki started as he dragged Astrid with him over to the control panel of the cell. "Should we test that?"
His hand hovered over the big red button that would send Thor and the glass cage hurdling down from the sky and to the ground. But he halted when his armed guard fell to the ground in a thud. Agent Coulson stands where the fallen guard once stood, holding a massive gun in his arms.
"Move away, please," he ordered. Loki raised his free arm, the other still remaining one Astrid's neck. He moved them both away from the control panel. "Let go of Astrid."
Loki did so. Astrid moved away from the raven-haired god, standing somewhere behind Coulson so she would not be blasted from the gun's ray. "You like this? We started working on the prototype after you sent the Destroyer. Even I don't know what it does. Do you wanna find out?" Coulson teased.
A loud gasp relaxed from both Astrid and Coulson's mouth as a hand wrapped itself around her neck once more and a blade pierced through Coulson's chest. "Ah, did you miss me?" The real Loki spoke into Astrid's ear as he yanked his spectre from Coulson's chest.
"NO!" Thor screamed as he punched the glass. Loki kicked Coulson into the wall. The agent slumped down, trying to breath steadily as he bled out. Loki made his way back to the control panel with Astrid still in clutched in his grasp. Loki gave his brother one last look to Thor looking at him with a hopeful glance. The mischievous god then looked to Astrid's side profile to see tears pricking her eyes as she struggled to breath with his hand around her neck.
Loki pushed whatever emotions he was feeling to the back of the head and opened the hatch, a gust of air flowed through from the ground, making Astrid and Loki's hair to flow upward.
Thor looked his brother, a sense of hope still in his eyes. But it soon vanished as Loki hit the red button and sent Thor and his cage hurdling to Earth's ground.
Astrid gasped as a tear slipped down her cheek. "No," she whispered, unable to scream or shout.
"Let's sort you out, shall we, my Queen," Loki whispered lowly. He spun Astrid around, his hand still gripping her throat. Before she fight back, he pointed his spectre at her heart, the blue gem glowing intensely as it altered with Astrid's head.
Her once bright blue eyes were now glossed over with a black haze as she stopped struggling against Loki's grasp.
"Ah, much better, my love." Be lowly spoke as he removed his hand from Astrid's throat as she stood there statically, waiting for an order.
Loki had no remorse for what he did to his brother as he turned down to see the speck of the glass cage crashing into the ground. Nor did he have remorse for mind controlling Astrid.
A weak voice sounded from behind the couple.
"You're gonna lose," a dying Coulson rasped out.
"Am I?" Loki laughed.
Coulson chuckled weakly. "It's in your nature."
"Your heroes are scattered, your floating fortress falls from the sky, I turned the most powerful being in the Nine Realms to my side," Loki gestures to Astrid. "Where is my disadvantage?" He boasted.
"You lack conviction." Coulson pointed out. Loki was about to object but Coulson cut him off by firing his massive gun toward Loki's chest. However, a controlled Astrid jumped in front of the blast, sending both herself and Loki flying through the wall and into the next room.
Astrid groaned at the impact, her armour thankfully protecting her chest from the powerful blast. Loki stood up, extending his hand out to Astrid.
The blonde took it, using his strength to help herself up. "I hate that man." Loki muttered.
"We should leave before this ship crashes," Astrid said, her expression stoic.
Loki smiled at the blonde woman before him, his hand still clasped with her own. "Let's."
Loki led Astrid through the helicarrier, his hand clutching Astrid's tightly. The God of Mischief and the Goddess of Eternity went out onto the landing deck on top of the carrier. Loki jumped on the jet that Barton and Loki's other men arrived in. He extended a hand out to Astrid, who took it and used it as leverage to jump into the jet along side with Loki.
The raven-haired god grinned evilly as the jet they sat in flew away from the descending helicarrier. He turned to peer at Astrid's side profile.
Emotions began to flood his system as his eyes scanned over her features. They was a few cuts along her face; one split her eyebrow and a graze was scratched along her cheek. Most likely from her fight with that monster, he thought.
"Astrid?" Loki spoke, catching her attention. Astrid turned her head to him, her eyes still glazed with a dark haze. Loki's smile faltered slightly at the sight. "I hate doing this to someone as special as you,"
"What do you mean, Loki?" She asked, her tone and expression unchanging.
"You are special to me," Loki spoke, brushing his knuckles gently over Astrid's scratched cheekbone. "I just have a strange way of showing it."
