Yelena's POV:

I worked as a historian. Kind of under the pressures to get into fantasy and find some supernatural stuff. It was an annoying work. But I had to. Just to support my brother,

He was three years younger than me. And you know how typical.
We used to fight a lot as kids. But since we became orphans, as I was older, I did everything to support us.

But just four years back, he died due to cancer. It was devastating for me and on the other hand I could now think only about my own welfare.

Since then, I withdrew as a historian and became an alcoholic.

Life was depressing and I smoked a lot.

Visiting wine bars became a casual routine for me and I slowly started enjoying it. I would just roam around the streets, deeply drunk, and would finally become sober behind the bars or would just wake up on a busy road.

It finally became boring for me.

Until one day, I met a stranger when I was drunk. I have a blurred memory of what happened next but when I was sober, I woke up in a palace-like mansion which seemed the place where the stranger lived.

I learnt his name was Austin. And he worked for the government. Mafia type. I didn't care.

When I met him for the first time, I was laying on a sofa and pretty creeped out at the way he stared at me. Unknown, I picked up my phone and spoke up, "911, I think I am under a serious kidnapping. I need help"

But so I thought that I had called the cops, I came to my 'real' senses and the 'phone' that I talked with was just my own hand on my ear.

Austin howled with laughter. And I was embarrassed as hell.

Then he spoke up,"Great! I was looking for a girl"

That cringed me hard and strange thoughts ran in my head. So I nervously asked. "For, for what?"

"For working as a spy..." He slowly answered.

Interesting. I thought.

That took a wild turn in my life.

Austin planned on giving me hard schedule for my training but was I prepared?

It seemed like he was controlling me like a joystick. And I was against it.

So when he first gave me the opportunity, I denied, saying that I needed time.

"Think about it", he said. "You could have all the riches you want"

Well, come to think of it, I was financially broke and barely had a penny in my wallet. I stole money many times to make ends meet. Thus, money got in my way.

I agreed.

After a few days of intensive training, I hated him controlling me like a joystick and almost wanted to give up.

Then suddenly he had a 'humanity' spark and gave me a break for three days. He was strange. Each passing day.

I felt alive but was also thrilled to learn some new fighting skills and secret codes. I felt like a character in a movie.

Working as a spy was something utterly interesting for me but to be a spy, I needed to have a purpose.

Three days were soon over and I had new energy within myself. Although I had tons of questions lurking in my mind, I had the perfect timing for it.

************
I layed down in the room I was given to stay during the period. I knew Austin would walk every night around the door to my room for a couple minutes to check out.
