Mom: Jahoon~ my baby~ please wake up~

I opened my eyes as I heard my mom worriedly call out for me. I turned to look at her confused as she gasped and looked at me with tears slowly beginning to form in her eyes.

Jahoon: Why are you crying, Mom? Are you okay?

Mom: Mommy is fine. You don't have to worry my baby. How are you feeling? Are you hurting anywhere?

Jahoon: No, I'm not hurting anywhere. Why? Should I? But I was just sleeping?

My mom looked taken aback for a moment. She lifted her head to look at someone and I turned my head to see it was my dad. My Mom and Dad looked at each other troublesome as I just looked at them with confusion.

Dad: You don't really remember anything that happened?

Jahoon: Again, should I? Haven't I just been asleep?

My sister Hyejoo popped her head from behind Mom's back and looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

Hyejoo: You don't remember what happened at all, unnie? Do you remember who we are? What about Jiyeon unnie or Luda unnie?

My Mom hissed and looked at Hyejoo angrily when she mentioned the two last names. I knitted my eyebrows as I was confused about what and who she was talking about.

Jahoon: Of course, I remember you guys. Mom, Dad, Hyejoo and Choerry! But I don't remember knowing anyone by the name of Jiyeon or Luda.

Everyone looked at me surprised like I just said something new or I said something stupid.

Hyejoo: You are joking, right? You are really telling me that you don't know a girl named Jiyeon or Luda?

Jahoon: I don’t remember… should I know them.

Hyejoo was about to open her mouth but mom quickly shoved her elbow into her side, making her pout. I continued to look at them confused, I just wanted someone to clearly tell me what was happening.

Mom: You are not supposed to know them. Hyejoo was just checking if you still had your memories. You were in a little accident that hurt your head. The doctors told us that it was a possibility that you would have lost some of your memories but luckily you did not.

I glanced at everyone. It felt like they were hiding something from me but before I could ask about it, I noticed that tears were beginning to form in her eyes.

Jahoon: Mom? Why are you crying?

Mom sniffed and wiped her tears away and tried to put a smile on her face. She gave me a tight hug for a moment before she pulled away and sniffed her tears away once again.

Mom: I’m just happy that you are awake and well. You don’t need to worry about Mommy. Just rest well silly girl.

Mom flicked my nose jokingly and chuckled. I smiled at her but I couldn’t help but to still be a bit worried.  But it is best not to ask her more about it at the moment.

I walked down the stairs as I was in the kitchen since I got hungry. As soon as I got down, I noticed everyone sitting together in the living room.

Dad: Jahoon honey. I was just about to get you. Please come and join us here. Your mom and I have something that we want to talk with you about.

I walked over to them and sat down beside Hyejoo as I looked at our parents a bit wary.

Jahoon: Is something wrong?

Mom and Dad looked at each other before turning back to look at each of us.

Dad: Nothing is wrong. Nothing to worry about but we actually got some exciting news. We are actually going to move to the States.

Hyejoo: The states? You are joking with us, right Dad? Mom?

Mom: Your dad is telling the truth. Your dad got promoted and this meant that he needed to move.

Dad: Your mom and I decided that it would be best for all of us to move all together.

Jahoon: When are we moving?

Dad: In two months.

The time went past fast. It was already time for us to leave South Korea. None of us knew when we would ever get back here. We all sat in the waiting area, waiting for the announcement to let us board. I looked around the airport, soaking in the last moments I had here. There was something inside of me that kept bothering me but I couldn’t really pinpoint what it was.

Speaker: All passengers boarding the plane to the United States of America, please come to the gate now to board.

Dad: Alright guy! Now is the time. Everyone take your passport and tickets out.

We all did and made our way over to the increasingly long line in front of the gate. Right until the moment I got to the gate, I kept looking behind me as if I was waiting for someone to come running to me at any second. I gave the steward my passport and ticket and got checked in. I turned around to look once again but couldn’t see anyone or anything that I was looking for. Maybe it was just me saying goodbye to what I had known. I turned back around and walked inside the plane and to my seat. It wasn’t long after that the plane took off and that was my last moment in South Korea.
