"Kennedy, cut open that fuse box."

He did just as I said, cutting open the box with the knife. It easily went through the tape holding it closed.

Leon opened the hatch, "It's a switch"

"Yeah well, it opens that gate so I say pull it." I said hesitating a little.

I knew it wasn't going to be easy getting the three medallions to open the passageway. But we had to do it if we wanted to get out of this place, even if that meant going out into the rest of the building, which was infested by zombies. Many of them being my former colleagues.

Leon pulled the switch and the gate to the reception slowly opened.

"This is not how I imagined my first day..." Leon muttered as he began to walk in.

I took a hold of his arm and stopped him. He turned to me, confusion written all over his face.

"Hey, Kennedy, what you'll see out there will be terrifying." I started, "And, I won't lie to you. We're putting our lives at risk right now and we might not make it out. Just know that you can trust me, okay?" I told him sincerely.

His eyes softened and he sent me a soft smile, "Okay."

I responded to his smile with my own and gave him a nod. We both carried on through the door. I took a deep breath as we continued, straying away from the reception and into the hallway.

A sudden message came through on an officer who was slumped in the corner's radio, giving us a fright, "This is 73-Bird - for rescue - heading east - River." Leon and I looked at each other, " Touchdown at R.P.D - minutes."

We carefully walked towards the body and Leon squatted down, "What...?" He muttered under his breath as he reached forward to pic up the head of the officer. As he lifted it up we saw that the jaw had been severed and was hanging on by just flesh. "Oh... Oh, what the fuck?" Leon looked disgusted and I was sure that I looked no different.

"Oh my god... that's disgusting!" I nearly had to look away and when Leon lifted up the head more I saw that the skin hang loose on the neck, leaving the muscle tissue peaking out.

Suddenly, we heard a noise behind us and we both quickly spun around. "Huh? What!?"

The sight we were met with was somehow even worse. A man hung from the ceiling with a pole through his mouth, keeping him up there. He was clearly dead, but I wondered if he had died before or after being put there and why the zombies had even put him up there.

I gave him a look and we walked away from the scene. We wandered a little further down the hallways before being stopped by a loud sound coming from a window. It was a zombie trying to come in by banging on the window with all it's force. It broke through and we both held out guns up and shot it in the head, making it fall to the floor, dead.

"I fucking hate jump scares!" I let out a frustrated sigh.

"Yeah, come on." Leon said and made a gesture for me to go with him through the doors of the operations room.

He walked to a desk and picked up a piece of paper from the table. "Record of events..."

I stayed quiet as he read what stood on the paper. I didn't need to read it in order to know what it said, I had lived through it after all. Making the station a shelter, the night attack, the mob... To sum it up, it had been the hell of a week.

My eyes wandered around, trying to find where we should go and stopping on the large window, which had been broken.

"Kennedy, we can go through here." The man in question was still staring at the paper in his hands.

He started quietly speaking, "You were here... for all of this?" He looked up from the paper and his eyes moved over to me.

"Well, yeah... you could say that this has been the worst week of my life. But i think you already knew that."

I was a little reluctant to continue and I felt my walls building up around me. This wasn't the time to look back. We needed to get out of here.

Moving over to stand next to him, I took the paper out of his hands and crumbled it until it was formed like a ball. I threw it into the corner of the room and looked back at Leon's perplexed expression.

"Cate, I..."

Before he could start, I quickly interrupted him, "I would rather not talk about it please, so if we could just get moving."

I started to back away, towards the broken window but he stopped me by taking my hand in his. I gazed up into his blue eyes, finding them somewhat pleasing to look at.

"Cate, what you said earlier, that I can trust you." I gave him a small nod as he continued, "I just want you to know that you can trust me to, no matter what. We're gonna make it out, together."

"I know." It came out like a whisper. I knew I had to look away from his eyes, but I didn't want to. Nether did he apparently as he kept on studying my eyes. A few seconds later, I willed myself to look away, "Come on, Kennedy."

I made a gesture and walked to the window, hearing him follow behind me. We jumped out the window and looked around. Only one zombie was in the hallway and Leon signaled to sneak behind it.

The door to the safety deposit room closed behind us as we had successfully avoided the zombie.

Leon walked over to the code machine, "We should stock up on things we might need."

"Yeah, but we need to find 2 and 3 first." I pointed to the place where the missing keys were supposed to be, "They disappeared a while back."

"I guess that there is spares somewhere in the building." He said and I nodded at him.

"I don't know where but I know there are some." I said, taking a look at all the locked cabinets. "There's a couple we can open without them, though."

"Which numbers?" He asked and stood by the machine as I walked around the room telling him all the numbers we could open.

"104, 106 and 109." I told him and he pushed the buttons to open the lockers and I grabbed the things inside. "A battery, some assault riffle ammo and a grenade."

I walked back over to him and he looked at the things too. "I can take the battery and the ammo and you can take the grenade."

"Sure." I said, handing him the things. "Now we just need to find the spare keys-"

I was cut off by loud banging on the door. I held my gun up high and aimed at the door, Leon doing the same. A zombie came barging through the door and Leon shot it in the head. The zombie dropped down on the ground and we snuck out the door, turning left and following the hallway.

"Where to now?" The man asked.

I looked around and my eyes settled on the stairs, "My best bet would be the second floor." He gave me a nod and led the way up the stairs.

The only focus now was just to survive and find the spare keys.

Easy peasy...
