CW || Minor claustrophobia.
As Sapnap made his way through the vents, he willed the panic to subside. It was cramped inside of the metal tunnels and, despite not having claustrophobia, the prospect of just being in here made him sweat like crazy. Then again, all humans have survival instincts, and one of those natural instincts is to NOT get stuck in cramped spaces.
He finally found his first intersection, where the vent split off in two directions... So, of course, he stopped moving and told himself that he was about to keel over and die in here. The logical side of his brain told him to pick a direction and just back up if it was dead-ended but the other half told him to lie down and cry. Sapnap chose the right tunnel and kept on crawling forwards, just hoping that the strap of his baseball bat didn't get stuck on anything and hold him back, as he would rather get out of here as quickly as possible.
Sapnap found himself at the thin metal grate, thinking for a moment before pressing both of his palms against it and shoving as hard as he could. The rusted sheet quickly came loose and clattered onto the floor below, letting Sapnap crawl out and drop the short distance to the floor. He glanced around, eyes widening in awe as they scanned the numerous shelves of products, some of the foods were definitely not non-perishable and were rotting away but others were still good, stored away in cans.
He grabbed as many of the few cans as possible, quickly realising that some would require a can opener, and slipped them into the pack slung over his shoulders that had given him. Sapnap could barely stand the smell of the rotting food and ran back towards the air vent, using a shelf to boost himself back up and scurry through the ducts again, trying to get out of there as quickly as he could.
As he emerged, lightly coughing, he saw Dream and George looking at him with a sort of eager anticipation, like wild animals hungrily waiting for their prey to turn its back. "So..? Did you get anything?" George asked, brushing some dust off of his shirt. Sapnap laughed happily as he swept a strand of ebony hair out of his face, holding out the backpack of cans. "Yeah, I got a little bit of food... A lot of the stuff in there was rotten, though, so it stunk really badly and I couldn't grab much before it was overpowering."
Dream excitedly took the pouch, slipping the soft leather open and digging through the cans. "Allllright! This is perfect, we should have plenty of food to get to our next safehouse base before we need to start worrying about restocking... Here, everybody sit down, we're going to have something to eat before we start the journey back."
The other two tiredly cheered, slumping down to the ground, glad to be having something to eat for the first time in days. Dream peeled off one of the slightly rusty tin lids and handed it to George, snorting as the brunette dipped his un-bandaged fingers into the thick syrup and grabbed one of the peach wedges before stuffing it into his mouth without a moment of hesitation, holding the can in the hand wrapped with gauze. Sapnap was quick to do the same, getting a tin of assorted fruit, and scoffing it down as quickly as humanly possible without choking on the slimy slices.
Dream, the seemingly more civilised one, ate his share slowly and calmly... Just laughing as he watched his two friends hunch over their cans and shovel the fruit into their mouths. "Is it good?" He asked Sapnap with a hint of sarcasm as he leaned over, getting a low hiss in response while Sapnap pulled the tin back away from him, spinning around so that his back was facing the other two.
George copied him, tugging his thick goggles down to hang around his neck while licking the almost sickeningly sweet syrupy liquid off of his hands, as he turned his back on Dream. The blonde was shaking with heavy laughter, slowly getting to his feet and tossing the can aside without a second thought. "Come on, guys, we still want to get down to that creek... Don't we?"
Sapnap scrambled up and urged George to stand as well, nodding excitedly, before Dream turned and started walking down the trail back to their treehouse. "WOO IT'S SWIMMING TIME!" Sapnap cheered, elbowing Dream before racing ahead, some of the loose threads from his ripped black jeans flailing in the wind.
"RACE YOU THERE!" Dream replied, just as eagerly, but he already just knew that Sapnap was going to beat him... The man was like a gazelle, not only was he quick but he could also just. Keep. Running! He didn't stop sprinting, and, despite trying his best, Dream could only lag behind him with George even further behind.
"THIS ISN'T FAIR!" The Brit called, retying the knot on his quiver of arrows as he ran. "SUCK IT, IDIOT." Sapnap retorted, just speeding up as he ran down the track.
