CHAPTER ONE: THE NEWSPAPER CLIPPING

[In Town - Lawyer's Office - Around 10:26 In The Morning - Usagi's Point Of View]

"Looks like everything is in, Mr. Snow. All I need to do is go over a few things with you." The Lawyer said as she looked over the stack of paperwork in her hands before looking at me with her emerald green eyes, "Your Grandfather left you a few vintage cars that are currently in a garage on a private lot, the house in the forest, a few rental properties, and about $450,000 in a savings account. Looks like you are a rather well-off gentleman and let me just say thank you for your service to our country." She smiled at me with her perfect teeth, causing me to smile at her as she held a paper out to me and a pen, "Please sign this - stating that you accept the inheritance and they will be placed in your name." 

I reread the paper and nodded my head before I took the pen from her hand and signed my signature on the dotted line before handing the paper back to her - afterward, she handed me the keys to the Storage Garage to the Vintage Cars on Grandfaher's Private Lot, the Master Keys of the rental properties, and the card and pin to my grandfather's savings account. I nodded at her before looking off to the side to see my daughter paying on her Nintendo Switch with her headphones on her head.

"You may have a few rental properties and a good hunk of cash in the bank but I think it would be an interesting choice to get a job just in case something goes down and it looks good for a military man to have a job in this economy." The Lawyer said as she pulled out a business card and handed it to me, I took it from her hand and slid it into my pocket with a smile before rising from my seat and walking over to Eira, placing a hand on her shoulder to get her attention; she pulled off her headphones and placed them around her neck before jumping out of her chair and walking with me out of the lawyer's office. 

"Is everything alright, Daddy?" Eira asked as she looked up at me with her brown eyes, I smiled down at her as I took her hand as we walked down the street before passing by a restaurant that Grandfather and I used to go to - they ake the best burgers around. Eira tugs my hand and pointed to the restaurant, looking at me with her soulful brown eyes; I smiled and exhaled before walking to the door, opening it, and allowing Eira to walk in before I walked in myself.

"Welcome to Bonnie's Burgers, how can I help- Usagi?! You're back home?!" The Waitress - Ms. Bonnie Bucket - looked at me with wide eyes as she looked down at Eira, who was hiding behind my legs while clinging to my pants legs. "Usagi...who is that little girl and why does she look like you with brown eyes?" She asked as she looked at Eira with wide eyes - she knew the answer but she just wanted me to say it.

"This is my daughter - Eira. She's 5 years old." I said as I looked down at my daughter with my hand on top of her head - Eira smiles at Bonnie and waves her tiny hand at her. Bonnie walked from around the counter and grabbed me by my shirt and began to shake me like a ragdoll.

"ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?! YOU LEAVE TO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND COME BACK WITH A LITTLE GIRL?! YOU LEFT WHEN YOU WERE 16 AND YOU'VE BEEN GONE FOR 7 YEARS! NOW, YOU'RE A FATHER?! YOU BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR THIS, USAGI SNOW, OR I WILL TAKE YOU OVER MY KNEE AND LECTURE YOU!" She yelled in my face, my world started spinning when she stopped shaking me. I loved Bonnie, she was like the aunt I always wanted and she treated me just like a nephew - sometimes letting me hang over to her house to hang out with her son - Max - or giving us food at a discount when we were going to school.

"I fell in love during my time overseas with a woman but she wasn't able to take care of our daughter and begged me to take her - I know that I am young but I wasn't going to abandon my daughter, Bonnie." I said as I looked into her eyes, she exhaled and let go of my shirt, and placed her hands on my shoulders.

"I'm glad Fredrick raised you to be a proper young man even though you are rather young to be a father. Did you get all of her paperwork in order?" Bonnie asked as she walked over to the counter and stood by the register.

"Yeah, I stayed an extra year overseas to make sure it was safe to bring my daughter overseas." I said as I smiled down at Eira, who smiled up at me.

"I'm proud of you, my boy. Now, what can I get you two? At a discounted price for your service to our country." Bonnie said as she lifted her hand to punch in the order price into the register. I ordered a double-stacked cheeseburger with an order of fries and a vanilla milkshake. Eira said she wanted an order of chicken tender and fries with a small soda. Bonnie punched into the items and the price before applying the discount, I paid and walked over to the booth before pulling out the newspaper that I pulled from a newspaper stand while walking into the restaurant. I looked at the Jobs Section - the lawyer really had me thinking, I may have properties that are being rented and that normally give a decent amount of income but I didn't want to be one of those dads who just stayed home and did nothing while living off royalties. That's when I saw it:

Your job will include the following:

- Watching the Children and Parents

- Monitoring Birthday Parties and Shows

- Checking Wristbands

- Turning away suspicious individuals to keep the children safe

The job pays $19 an Hour with benefits

"Daddy, have you ever heard of the Mega Pizzaplex?" Eira said, catching my attention.

"Why do you ask?" I asked her, she turned her Switch around and a commercial played off a promotional segment of well-made animatronics of a Golden Bear in a Top Hat with a microphone, A Rock N Roll Purple Wolf with a Keytar, A Green Alligator with a red mohawk playing an electric guitar, and a white chicken in retro workout outfit play a star-shaped electric guitar. They were performing on a stage with the bear taking the lead as the singer. Then the image changed stating: Come eat, drink, and have a rockin' time at the Mega Pizzaplex! Come meet The Glamrocks! Then, the commercial went back to the game my daughter was playing.

"Please, can we go, Daddy?! Please! Please! Please!" Eira asked as she jumped in her seat - I looked back at the newspaper clipping in the paper before smiling at my daughter.

"I think I found a decent job," I said as Bonnie came with the food and drink, causing me to place the newspaper on the table and Eira to place the Switch in her backpack before the two of us started eating our food.

It's him.

I can't believe it - he's really back in town. 

But, who is that little girl with him? She can't be his daughter, she just can't be; even though they look too much alike although the girl has brown eyes. We promised ourselves to each other and I have saved myself for him - she must be his niece or something or maybe he's just babysitting.

'You finally came back to me. I've waited for you for 7 years and now you are finally back. We'll meet again so you and I are going to be together, Usagi Snow.'
