XVI. An Unsurprising Welcome.

(A/N: All I just wanted to say sorry for the long wait, it had been an eventful time, but hopefully, I'm back for good, brace yourselves for an eventful chapter).

(P.S. couldn't find a picture of a bloody Florence Pugh aside from that one scene from Don't Worry Darling, so I got you a picture of just Florence Pugh without the bloody part and you can use your imagination).

March 25th, 2010.

"What do you mean Elena's kidnapped?" Eira asks repeating the information she just received.

"I mean exactly that; she was supposed to drive back home after the masquerade. Stefan made sure Bonnie healed her after her incident with Katherine, but her car was still at the Lockwood's and Jeremy says she didn't make it back to the house." Damon doesn't realise his mistake until he gets a reply from the other line.

"Hold on, backtrack there, did Katherine attack Elena?" she asks. He tries to stifle his groan, and hits his head softly, as if reprimanding himself. "Yeah, about that..." he trails not sure how much he should reveal.

"This is the part where you explain what you've kept from me so far." Eira rails in her anger, knowing she's partially at fault for trusting Damon to tell her everything as opposed to Stefan.

"So we may have had this plan to take down Katherine, that had gone sideways. But we got it under control." She inhales sharply from her nose, trying to calm herself down, "Who's we?" she asks.

"Everyone who knows, I think." Still livid, she nods wordlessly, "And where's Katherine now?" she asks, as she would be her first suspect in the Elena hijack.

"Stuck in the tomb under the church ruins." He replies smugly, hoping that'll reign some of Eira's anger.

"And in which part of this story does Elena get kidnapped?" she asks. "Like I told you after the party, I took Katherine to the tomb, Jeremy took Bonnie back to her house, as she was feeling a little woozy after her witchy play, and Elena was fine, Stefan made sure of that, then he left her at the parking lot, no one's heard from her since." Damon explains, as he goes to meet up with Stefan at the car, having already decided on a plan.

"Why not say she decided to take a hike away from all the drama?" Eira asks even if she thinks it's not the first option that comes to mind.

"Because this is Elena we're talking about, if she were to take a day off, she'd tell someone or at least have her phone on. But I don't think that's the case, especially after what Katherine said when I was locking her up." Damon replies. "What did she say?" she already has an idea of what Damon will say but she asks anyway.

"That Elena's in danger, I thought she was just saying that so that we would get her out of the tomb."

Eira pauses in her thoughts, then speaks out her decision, "Alright, stay put, I'm taking the first flight over and then we can find her and get her back." She orders.

"Too late, witchy already did her part and we know where they have Elena, Stefan and I are headed there now." at his words, Eira shouts out her protest.

"No! Stay put, anyone after Katherine is most likely older than her, ergo older than you. Plus I think the kidnappers didn't make a mistake." She says. "What makes you say that?" Damon asks as he reaches Stefan, with his brows furrowed over who Damon's talking to, Damon mouths 'Eira' making Stefan nod.

"Let's just say being a doppelganger is the worst thing that happened to Elena Gilbert." Eira doesn't elaborate further on the topic.

"That makes it all the more reason that we shouldn't wait." Damon insists. "You're being reckless, Damon. This is not the time to be reckless."
