I had been up for an hour, fully ready for my day just waiting for the unwanted guest to leave my home. It was another ten minutes before he finally came strutting into the kitchen wearing last night's clothes ready for the walk of shame.

"So, what was that last night?" he asked the corner of his lips curving into the smirk I've now grown to hate.

"Something that isn't going to happen again, I have no idea why it did" I explained to him, turning my back to empty my mug and wash it out. We were old friends that might explain what had happened, but it always became awkward straight after and then I feel guilty for doing that to him. He is a great guy and doesn't deserve to be messed with by the likes of me.

"Whatever you say Caitlyn" he responds, and he doesn't believe me, but I'll prove it to him. I got him to leave by pushing him out the door and rapidly got myself together and then drove to get morning coffee for myself and Miss Black since she texted me her coffee order. This better not be a common request, I have better things to do than be her errand girl.

I got the coffee and made it to work just in time to sign in and make my way up to the top floor. I placed my bag down, knocked on the office door and walked in to see her on the phone in what seemed to be a heated conversation.

Her eyes landed on me and softened which took me by surprise, "I have to go now, I'll call you later" she said and ended the call to whomever it was.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, seeing as it took a toll on her as it was a drastic change from yesterday.

"Yes, thank you for the coffee, you may leave" she said changing back to her cold exterior as I nodded and left the office. I wonder what that call was about that got her so worked up then to just change back to the ice cold bitch she keeps portraying. I believe there is another side to her and I'm willing to take up the task to break the cracks and find it. Even if it risks my career.

I grabbed my tablet and walked to the cubicle where Caleb worked, best thing about my best friend working here is that he is on the same floor as me as he's the head of the leisure department which had him overlooking projects connected to fitness centres as well as gyms. As soon as he noticed me he turned his attention from the computer screen.

"What has you looking so down honeybuns?" he called out to me making me smile at the nickname. I leaned myself against his desk and he turned his chair to face me.

"So, crazy thing happened last night, I hooked up with Damon" I whispered the last part to me, and he didn't look surprised as this was becoming a common occurrence he simply shook his head.

"One of these days, it'll cross the line and you'll be back together" he said, and I shook my head fast.

"No, that will not happen, I'm setting it straight no more crazy hook ups" I reiterated, and he still didn't believe me but who was I kidding, even I didn't believe me.

"I'll believe it when I see it" he said, and I stood up straight as he was about to begin to work again.

"I will, plus I have my sights set on somebody new" I told him as I focused my gaze onto the office where my boss was working away and then my vision was blocked by Caleb's face as he rose to meet my gaze.

"Absolutely not, you cannot be serious to go after your boss" he whispered to me to not let others hear.

"Of course I'm serious, you know me" I told him, but the shakes of his head were making me think I shouldn't do it.

"You're risking your career doing that, it can't happen Caitlyn" he told me, but I simply shrugged and went back to my desk and sat down.

I let the words from Caleb set in, was it worth risking my career for someone I barely know and probably will never know. I don't know what made me want to get to know her, maybe it's because anyone new I meet they take a liking to me, and we become fast friends. Although this time, meeting Miss Black didn't prove that statement, the cold attitude she gives me just makes me want to break it away to find the warm centre.
