The day was busy and all Rachel wanted was a hot bath and to lie in the warm hotel bed. After Ross surprised her by taking her to meet the company she had refused to work for in order to stay in New York, she was sure she had made the right decision. The working environment was not the friendliest and the weekly working hours were longer than she was used to. Working more was not an option now that they were thinking about growing their family and Ross was happy to hear that she had no regrets about her decision.
"Are you really sure? Because I really can work here. If there's one thing France has, it's museums,'" Ross insisted as they entered the suite and she complained of aching feet.
"I've never been more sure. Everyone in the office smokes, so once again I'd be the healthy nag, plus it's a lot of work for a family with a toddler and another baby on the way. Not to mention it would make it difficult for you with Ben."
"Baby on the way?" - he widened his eyes. "You're..."
"No! I mean, I don't know yet at least. The last time we tried it was enough once," she recalled with a mischievous smile.
"True, and we weren't even trying," he agreed boastingly.
"Yeah, by the way, I miss Emma," she complained with a pout. "Can we call Monica? They're probably having lunch at this hour."
"Of course we can. I miss the kids too," he agreed.
Ross picked up the phone and as soon as he finished dialing Rachel snatched the phone away from him.
"Mon! How's my baby? Did she cry a lot? Is she missing us?" - she asked quickly.
"Hello to you too. Me, Chandler and the kids are great," she replied with a judgmental tone.
"I'm sorry," she embarrassed herself. "It's just that I've never been away from her for so long," she explained.
"Emma's fine, rest assured. Enjoy your honeymoon and come back with another nephew of mine in your belly," she joked.
"Well, we're trying," she smiled, looking at Ross, who returned the smile affectionately.
"Well, you got it with one try last time. Don't let me down, Green."
"That's what your brother said," she laughed. "I only called because I miss you all so much. Ross is already telling me to hang up because the call is expensive."
"Tell him to stop being such a cheapskate."
"I'm not a cheapskate, I'm thrifty," he replied, picking up the phone.
"We love you, Mon. Tomorrow I'll call you again when he's in the shower," Rachel teased and they hung up the phone.
"Good to know," Ross replied.
"Just kidding, hubby," Rachel sat on his lap. "What do you say we take a bath together?" she asked with a not-so-subtle tone.
"I like it when you call me that," he said with satisfaction.
"Hubby?" he repeated with a laugh.
"Yeah... I still can't believe I'm your husband," he confessed.
"It's not the first time you've been my husband," she reminded him.
"But this time, you'll be my wife forever," he assured her and the two exchanged a deep look and kissed.
"And if one day things change, we'll always have Paris to bring us back together," Rachel smiled mischievously.
"Don't even joke" - Ross stood up, carrying her to the bathroom.
