Chapter 12

Me: My God, is this interesting.....

"Cats get more tired and relaxed when you slowly blink at them" At least that is what Techno's friend had told him. Everyone in Techno's class had to do a project on an animal of their choice, and his friend, Niki, did it on cats. She had been telling him cool facts about them for the past week. He knew all of them already because his dad and his brother were cat hybrids (he was a bunny hybrid like his mom). There were only a few he did not know, like the last one that she had told him this Friday before the weekend.
We had been waiting outside the school after we had stayed at the library to work on our projects. Wilbur refused to stay because he didn't want Nicky to interrogate him about her project.

"Ya, I have learned so much for this project" Niki had said.

"Ya, they are all cool," he said even though I knew all of them already.

"Ya, but the one I found right before we left has to be the cutest thing ever. So basically, cats get more tired and relaxed when you slowly blink at them. It was a whole study that researchers in some universities in England did, and it said that it makes them feel comfortable around you."

"Really! That's so cool," hw had said just as Niki's mom had pulled up to take her home.

"ya, anyway, I will see you on Monday. Bye Tech."

"Bye, see you Monday"

He had spent the rest of the day wondering if it would work with my family. All of the other facts Niki had told him worked. Like how a house cat can reach speeds of up to 30mph, once he and Wilbur heard that they immediately begged their dad to go run around the backyard fast. Techno hoped that it did work because, for the last couple of days, his dad has been on a nonstop work grind. All he has done is come down to make dinner and breakfast. It happens every time their mom has to go on a work trip, which she has been on for almost a week and still won't be back for another week. And all Techno wants is for his dad to get some sleep over the weekend.
It was Saturday morning around 7 am. when Techno finally had the guts to go into his dad's office. He first knocks on the door, but when he does not get an answer, he slowly opens the door to find his dad tiredly looking at his computer. When the door opens enough for techno to slip in, he shuts it behind him and slowly makes his way up to his dad. As the door shut his dad, Phil, noticed that Techno had come in.

"Hey mate, what are you doing up so early? It is the weekend you're supposed to sleep in," he says in a sweet voice.

"Well", Techno says as he goes and sits on the chair across the office table from his dad. "I wanted to check on you." As Techno says that he starts to make eye contact with Phill and starts to slowly blink.

"Oh, don't worry about me mate I'll I'll" Phil starts to say but is interrupted by a yawn. "Oh, wow, that's weird," He said, looking at techno again. It was weird that he was starting to want to just go sleep and relax with him forever.

"No, not that weird like you said it is early, and we should both be asleep," Techno said, still slowly blinking at his father.

"Ya that that sounds good," Phil said, now completely out of it, only thinking about being with his son.

"Yay," Techno said as he stood up.
Phil quickly followed him in, standing up and walking straight over to Techno, picking him up.

"Wo, wait, no! I need to go to sleep."

"Yes you do need to go to sleep with me all snuggled together happily and warmly," Phil said, starting to go up the stairs to his and Kristin's room.

"No, this was just supposed to make you sleepy, not make you clingy." Techno said, trying to struggle out of his dad's grip.

"Well, this is what happens when you try to take advantage of someone's instincts."Phil said as Techno gasped. "Yep, that's right. I know the old slow blinking trick Kristin usually does when I work too much. It's so cute how much you are alike in the way you care for me." He said as he opened the door to his and Kristin's bedroom. Phil pulled the covers back and gently set Techno down in the bed and then joined him. He grabbed Techno as tight as he could to make sure the boy could get out. Then he started to do the trick that he had done to Kristin tons of times. He started to gently rub right underneath Techno's ear. As Phill did so, Techno started to close his eyes more and more, but just before he fell asleep, Techno mumbled "I love you, dad." Then promptly closed his eyes. As his son's breathing started to steady, Phil said "I love you too, my quiet bunny" and then slowly started to fall asleep, too.
