A MONTH LATER

It had been a month since the school accident and graduated from high school. Mirai had long since moved to Tokyo for a fresh start and made a life for herself.

I had been offered a chance to stay in the dorms. I'd chosen a small apartment within walking distance of the university and worked part-time at a nice bakery to help pay the bills and tuition. 

I notice the odd creature around campus, little nooks and crannies lurking around. I turned my eyes to the ground and ignored them.

The classes were a different level compared to high school, I'd have to dedicate some time to read and get ahead if I wanted to do well.

I made the first college friend with a girl in her second year who took a shine and took me under her wing, showing me the ins and out of campus.  Attended a university party or two. But it wasn't for me. Tried to keep normal.

Then the disappearance started happening. It started with one student who had been out late at night on campus and vanished without a trace.

Then, a rumour started about an old haunted building within the university circling around. It wasn't long before creatures' numbers increased, and it harder to avoid them.

According to friend. Fifty years ago, there were students who went there to do some sort of initiation ritual for freshmen but had gone missing. I've never been seen again. It has been closed and has relocated students to another building ever since.

Students intended to go in there on a dare and never came back out and their screams into the night. Reported ad missing on bulletin board and police.

Present.

Mirai was on my way to the library in hopes of finding peace and quiet to study. She had an assignment due next week and wanted to get on top of it as soon as possible.

She passed through the campus entrance, small amount or foot traffic, and elderly security guard, allowing students, staff, and visitors on site. But for some reason, something different in the air. As if something big was approaching.

As  Mirai was able to complete and hand in assignments to the shock, the lecturer decided to call it a day. But I couldn't shake the feeling something was very wrong.

The kids showed up, but security wouldn't allow them on campus. I could've walked away. It had nothing to do with me. It wasn't my business.

That was until I heard the ticking and saw the red ribbon cross my vision once more, and images flitted through mind.

Three teenagers in dark uniforms sneak into campus grounds and into an old university building ag night.

A monster.

Their bodies splayed across the ground, eith their guts torn out, limbs shifted in unnatural angles, and blood splattered on the walls.

Mirai returned to the present and calmed down. The scene was playing in my mind. I haven't had vision since the last encounter with Yuji.
