Jin was taken to a room next to the Emperor's, where he would sleep when the Emperor did not require his services. The place was neatly arranged, with a large canopied bed and fine silk, it was more elegant than he thought he deserved. He wondered then if that would be the room where he would keep his regular mistresses. He was assigned a servant who would help him dress, groom and obey his orders. To JungKook that made no sense, why go to the trouble of treating him as if his word was worth anything?
"It is because you, my lord, are not just any guest in this house ," his servant told him as he helped him remove his clothes that morning to take a bath. "This room is kept in the palace for the Empress,"
Jin understood that there was great confusion there.
"Do you think that...,"
"Everyone in the palace believes it, my young lord, and it is truly a surprise to the people as he was never known to have a potential consort,"
And they could not be more wrong.
"I thought he had many lovers," Jin said as he stepped into the tub of hot water with rose petals and lavender, let his muscles relax and for the moment his brain rest. He really needed that bath.
"Not as many as you think. Emperor Jeon has always been very reluctant to marry; however, this would seem to be the occasion to prove otherwise,"
"Actually, I am not and never will be the Emperor's consort," he tried to explain "for I am simply another of his lovers in turn,"
The servant wanted to refute him but Jin asked him not to insist on the subject, devoting himself only to massaging the boy's tense muscles, he ran a rose fragrance through his hair. When he came out he was dried with a white cloth and covered with a robe until he was taken to his room where the servant dressed him with a white suit with cords, put on high tied sandals and combed his brown hair.
"You look beautiful, Aphrodite herself would not possess such beauty," complimented JungKook entering the young man's room. The servant withdrew bowing, "I suppose anyone would look like that with the right attire,"
Was that an insult or flattery?
"May I ask something of you, my lord?,"
"Speak,"
"I don't think I need a servant if I can fend for myself, and,,,. I want a smaller room,"
"Your requests are really strange," JungKook said.
"I just don't feel comfortable there or the way they treat me. I'd like to tell them that I'm just a simple kompos,"
"What makes you think they don't know,"
Jin looked disconcerted, his eyes widened and connected directly with JungKook's dark gaze. He felt embarrassed because for a minute he thought he was more than he was and JungKook took it upon himself to remind him.
"The rumor spread fast, by the next hour after you arrived everyone already knew about my new acquisition,"
"I feel very out of line with their comments,"
"Ignore them. The only one you should listen to is me."
For an instant Jin liked the arrogance and possessiveness with which he treated him, he remembered that his baby's father had a similar possessiveness before he abandoned him, of course for him it was transmitted in an unhealthy way. With JungKook it was different.
"I'll see you in the evening, I hope the servants will beautify you further," he communicated caressing his arm all the way down to his wrist. "In the meantime, you can stroll around the village,"
